Re: linvst: recent changes (January 2019)

It had a problem (now fixed) loading some plugins like MT Power Drumkit and Unfiltered Audio Sandman which would result in a plugin loading timeout in Bitwig (but not other Daw's).

Re: Why run Windows software on Linux?

LinVst is up to version 2.41 at the moment and has a few Bitwig fixes in the latest release. I should keep a changelog and will be from now on. A lot of the LinVst changes over the last year were to support Waves in a solid sort of way and submitting corresponding changes to the Wine code to suppor...

Re: Why run Windows software on Linux?

I use wine-staging and linvst, which works pretty good and are simple to use. I compiled linvst and installed wine-staging earlier this year. I also have used winetricks for just one thing: fonts. Sinc ethen I haven't kept an eye on these. What would be the best places to check for updates and deve...

Re: Why run Windows software on Linux?

You need to use the unhide option when mounting the NI .ISO files as otherwise Linux/Wine won't see all the files it needs to install, something like "mount -t udf file.iso -o unhide /mnt". In addition Native Access and some of the plugins probably need a recent wine-staging and vcrun2015...

Re: Re-using exiting Wine install

Hi all! I have a large Wine env on one of my machines. It contains huge load of commercial and non-commercial VSTs (legal and paid, if someone wonders...). Now I would like to get working install of Serum. Serum demo works well (after some minor tweaks). So bought Serum. And now I'm stuck at regist...

Re: Installing plugins on a Linux DAW

It's probably due to wine-rt Now, I change wine-rt with wine-staging, from WineHQ official repositories. That package has too the realtime mode. (For more info about the rt patch on wine view this and this ) Anyhow, with wine-staging I can't load GUI of plugins again :( . I tried a previous version...

Re: Installing plugins on a Linux DAW

My experience with linvst is bad. I can convert vst windows files (.dll) to linux vst (.so) but when I load the plugins on Carla or QTractor the plugins no have GUI, I can play synths but no see the parameters. For installing, I follow the official instructions from github page of linvst. The last ...

Re: How to use SFZero?

So I heard that LinuxSampler isn't great with SFZ support and that SFZero is better, so I went to the osxmidi/sfzero GitHub repository and downloaded the release, but all it gave me was a .so file. I have no idea how to use that. All I want to do is pipe the output from Frescobaldi through it (some...

Re: Native Access

Hi, I've tried your method, @ubunutuuser, but I get the error "Installation cannot proceed, your operating system is not supported. Please check the minimum requirements" after the InstallAware Wizard... Of course this could just be because my specs aren't good enough, but could it instea...

Re: SFZero does not work in Ubuntu 18.04

Wanted to try SFZero for using sfz. Downloaded it from https://github.com/osxmidi/SFZero/releases and found out that MixBus blacklists it. Struggled to compile it myself, and same results. $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/Mixbus-5.1.0/lib/:/lib:/usr/lib /opt/Mixbus-5.1.0/lib/ardour-vst-scanner -f vst-linux/S...

Re: Linux sampler VST

While I'm at it, EZDrummer etc can split the individual drum sounds which can then have effects put on them and also allows altering individual drum sound levels. For sfz/sf2 this seems to work, maybe there are better ways to do it. Split the notes of a midi drum track to individual midi tracks repr...

Re: Linux sampler VST

Some useful things for LinuxSampler and SFZero https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1UG6naZ1HQ Separating midi notes to midi tracks, useful for putting effects on individual drums etc etc. Using the Reaper Action "Explode MIDI note rows (pitch) to new items". Then do as above, sync the individ...

Re: Linux sampler VST

This is how I've set it up, it seems to work ok but maybe there are better ways to do it, it's only a quick experiment to try some possible things out. The first track LS is the controller track (the linuxsampler vst connects to Qsampler/linuxsampler for sending and receiving) that has the linuxsamp...
