Re: Re-using existing Wine install
Jack Winter: That's exactly how I got Serum to work, I disabled d2d2 for Reaper and it worked! Really good thing you experienced gurus help us out! :D There are so much detail buried in Wine. Btw, anybody who tries Serum, a note: now and then it slows down a lot. It's not Linux/Wine problem, it's re...

Re: Re-using existing Wine install
I just updated wine to wine-staging and: Serum registration works! Minor drawing errors on the Serum UI, but nothing critical. Sounds very good! Also, everything else seems to work. I try to test more extensively, but: Thank you all for the advice! This was a successful upgrade and now I can get bac...

Re: Re-using existing Wine install
Yes, Serum Demo works with native d2d1 or, as in my case, d2d1 disabled. But, what I want to do, is to use Serum with same environment as other VSTs. There are already all Togu Audio Line synths, all Applied Acoustics Systems synths, u-he Diva and Zebra2, Dune 3, Korg Legacy Collection, Thorn, Wiggl...

Re-using existing Wine install
Hi all! I have a large Wine env on one of my machines. It contains huge load of commercial and non-commercial VSTs (legal and paid, if someone wonders...). Now I would like to get working install of Serum. Serum demo works well (after some minor tweaks). So bought Serum. And now I'm stuck at registe...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?
... to some degree QTractor work without Jack. to some degree what? i can only think on some kind of imaginary scale :) sure you can do some offline editing stuff but that's about it: if jack is not up and running i'll bluntly prophetize that most of qtractor functionality will be just plain hell o...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?
Btw, Ardour and to some degree QTractor work without Jack. Jack is fantastic system, but I have had problems with it concerning two Linux boxes; Ardour with ALSA works in those. I'm sure Jack can be made to work anywhere, but I'm not competent enough to get it to work. Also, for some people Traverso...

Snapping in Jokosher
So, many people think that Jokosher is not good enough, but I don't want to discuss that aspect. I have done some quick projects with it and it serves my purposes (when I don't want to use, for example, LMMS). Now, the real question: I read somewhere that there is a patch for Jokosher which gives te...

Re: Filters? Modulation algos?
Thanks! Faust seems to be quite complex. I have to dig in deeper to see what I can learn. Another thing, I found some Java(!) synth code which seems to have modulation between oscillators. Yet another thing, there seems to be some implementations of Moog filter which are *very* complex and hotly deb...

Filters? Modulation algos?
I'm programming a very poor synth for my own purposes. It has already working oscillator code, saw, sine, triangle and square waves at different frequencies work (says Audacity... :D ). Also 24-bit wav output works. Now, does anyone have good resource for filters? I have a resonant low pass filter, ...

Re: Can Carla record audio?
Ok, that was error on my part! Carla shows that toggle as 1 (means record) and 0 (means stop recording). I didn't realize it's purpose. Well, I have complete functionality without Jack. As I said, I have nothing against Jack, but for reference (to show how weak PC I have) when I tried recording from...

Re: Can Carla record audio?
tranp, your LV2 recorder compiles and works beautifully! Great! :D However, it begins recording when it's applied and stops when it's removed from Carla. This needs more knowledge. Is it possible that the recorder is only active when synth makes sound? This could be my mistake, I am beginner with C...
