Re: Collaborative sound collage

Oooh, I like this idea, count me in. I'm thinking of contributing some original outdoor "field recordings", and maybe some improv on acoustic instruments. Should we agree on a key to play in, it just submit anything whatsoever?

Re: Hello Linux Musicians

Hi Swi! Welcome. The specs on your AMD rig sound pretty nice. As far as audio hardware goes, the good news is that Linux drivers are WAY better than they used to be, let's say 10 or 15 years ago. Still, you may have trouble with some audio hardware that is not class compliant. I would be surprised i...

Both of rghvdberg's suggestions are excellent. You can also try Hydrogen if you are interested in a drum sequencer app.

Re: Dragonfly Room Reverb - Testers needed

Would be kind of cool if we could model the reverb's space in 3d similar to ambiverb. Would be nice for film composers. Try Invada Early Reflections for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86tqYLXYhkE Edit: Oh, I just realized that you mean an ambisonic type of reverb. Sorry, Dragonfly won't do t...

Re: Waves Of Memories

Do you have works? I am curious to listen them. I have read somewhere about your motivation to develop the reverb Dragonfly Reverb, i.e. to use it for concert music. Do you have any tracks to see how you are applying it for this? Yes. https://soundcloud.com/user-201997735 Also here are some older o...

Re: Waves Of Memories

I know is horrible. There is no reason to say such things, nobody expects you to be a master. Besides, I rather enjoyed it. The arrangement of thick harmony in the strings sections juxtaposed against the distant melancholy piano makes a really nice sound. I'm excited to have somebody else here that...

Distrho Plugin Framework supports building VST2. See DistrhoPluginVST, that might help you get started.

The maintainer of KXStudio is taking a break right now, I don't think we have any word on when he might pick it up again.

2.0.0 release candidate is now available. If no major bugs are reported, this will be promoted to an official 2.0.0 release.

Re: Ardour jam to playback

You need to switch the track to monitor input instead of disk. See http://manual.ardour.org/ardours-interf ... xer-strips, specifically the "In" and "Disk" buttons in section (7).

That's bonkers, on reverb.com you can buy one of the smaller class-compliant interfaces for around the same price, or just a little bit more.

Re: Do you want more people to use Linux for music?

Below that is the Windows User. I don't think this is really fair. There are lots of different skills involved in using a computer to produce music. Knowing how to use the OS is just one facet. Just because somebody is doing it on Windows doesn't mean that they are a complete hapless idiot. I have ...

Hi James! swing jazz... online collaboration Oooh... Let me know if you want me to record a clarinet part. I played in school from the age of 10 to 17, then didn't really play for a couple of decades. I bought a nicer clarinet a couple years ago and started practicing again. More recently I've been ...
