Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

Hey @lapsio , seems like there is a fix for the UR22C in 5.8.8 (https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/ChangeLog-5.8.8, https://lkml.org/lkml/2020/9/8/1304). Are you on an older kernel? Could you check if there are problems with >= 5.8.8? My Scarlett Gen 3i3 just broke (Weird USB-errors and t...

Re: Behringer UMC404HD works out the box

I use UMC 1820 and dozen of UMC 204HD. No issues whatsoever. No cracking and no problems with implicit feedback. Everything works ootb.

Also ADAT in 1820 just works.

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

Is there any info regarding implicit feedback support on upstream Linux? Because it seems to slightly get out of hand. Motu, Scarlett, now Steinberg... Soon Behringer will make the only audio interfaces that actually work on Linux and that's probably only because they use last decade tech... I wasn'...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

I just bought Steinberg UR22C (because UR12 worked just fine) but it seems C series ALSO has implicit feedback and crackles just like Scarlett...

I have really bad luck with interfaces choice...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

What's current status of this patch in mainline ALSA? It's nice that it works in patched kernels but I still need to do weird hacks with netJACK and passing through USB to VM running patched kernel because VMWare Workstation and DisplayLink EVDI modules don't really want to compile for me on patched...

Running pulseaudio apps as multiple JACK inputs?

I'm using Pulseaudio-jack-sink/source in order to route pulseaudio apps through JACK. It has one disadvantage though - all PA apps are scrambled into single JACK input and it's hard to manage them. Both for recording and playback. Is it possible to launch specific apps (may be from command line) on ...

Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 / 18i8 as ADAT master?

Hi did anyone use Scarlett device with hardware routing for ADAT on Linux? I think it'd be also applicable to gen 2 but idk if they behave the same way. I mean i know hardware routing is not controllable under linux but it does persist so i can basically set it up once and for all and then use it on...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

Note that full duplex mode will work only with jack due to some limitations in the driver. So if I'm using PulseAudio right now there is nothing for me to improve in the current situation by these patches? I was planning to check if wiring PulseAudio through Jack would work but hadn't much time to ...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

puleglot I know it's probably a lot to ask for, but would it be maybe possible to port this patch (in current version) back to my before mentioned kernel 4.6? I tried to pull off probably the most ridiculously overcomplicated workaround one could come up with to get this running on 4.6 - means I cr...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

It really makes me wonder why other people say that Scarlett 18i20 g3 works for them on Linux while it requires patches on all my machines ._. Unless they just don't hear crackling but it's hard for me to believe nobody hears that, especially on headphones. Or maybe they didn't really test it that m...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

Though probably something more noticeable is sudden lack of switches in alsamixer. I remember there to be selectable clock source. Which is quite random switch to be there tbh considering lack of other way more important ones xD But probably even more important topic - how about digital i/o mode set...

Re: Scarlett 18i20 gen 3 Linux - Crackling Audio

I think it's important to note that I'm still kinda ghetto-patching my 5.3.7 sources which are different in several places comparing to mainline kernel which you seem to be using to create diffs. For examplle code you posted patch for had following form in my pcm.c file: iface = usb_ifnum_to_if(dev,...
