Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

For cloud + internet, realtime is nonsense. Would that make sense for your LAW? https://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~newhall/nswap2L.html ;-) Nswap and Nswap2L are backing storage devices specifically designed for general purpose Linux clusters. Nswap is a Network RAM system that is designed to scale to ...

I think that GNU/Linux has simply reached its limit because @Nuri wants to use +/- 50 effects (resource-hungry VST with Wine) in real-time (time critical). In theory this is already a feat. http://manual.ardour.org/images/latency-chain.png Pure mixing/routing should not be a problem, few effects sho...

@Nuri
An attempt would be to contact Adrian Knoth (a RME ALSA ~contact person) via mail and together solve the problem, possibly via ssh.

Granular Convolver - Raspberry Pi, custom Linux, SuperCollider

The device allows you to record sounds and slice them into small fragments referred to as grains. Once a sound is recorded, you can convolve the grains with any live input you care to send into the device. Essentially folding two signals, the instrument works to breed completely new sounds. With 20...

A test would also be: Move the personal settings of Ardour. Backup.

Code: Select all

mv ~/.config/ardour5 ~/.config/ardour5-BAK
