Re: KX Studio at the End of Standard Support - what now?

You can take any distribution if it includes the KXStudio repositories ( https://kx.studio/Repositories ) / packages (for example https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/carla/ , https://gpo.zugaina.org/media-sound/carla , ...). See for example here: GNU/Linux Debian installing >> Linux ...

Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

That's great! So you didn't uminstall anything and left also the kxstudio repo in the source list? Yes. I had not installed any packages from the backports in Debian Stretch. I would not update with a system relevant package from the backports such as a kernel. I would always boot and update with t...

Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

Re: GNU/Linux Debian installing >> Linux Audio Workstation LAW

Thanks for this!!! I still use some of these older advices. You're welcome. Are these no longer necessary or obsolete in 2019, since ~28 years of Linux and ~36 years of GNU exist? They tend to have some reliable chunks mixed in with the other parts. The reliable parts tend to be very worth it. Can ...

Re: The "new" su

Source: https://wiki.debian.org/NewInBuster The su command in buster is provided by the util-linux source package, instead of the shadow source package, and no longer alters the PATH variable by default. This means that after doing su, your PATH may not contain directories like /sbin, and many syste...

Re: Ardour monitor settings to use two soundcards

Then it must be that i do not understand why then still people are saying that two audio interfaces, one for incoming and another for outgoing, is technically not possible? That's possible, yeah. With ALSA - MultipleCards >> http://alsa.opensrc.org/MultipleCards , "~/.asoundrc" >> https:/...

Re: Ardour monitor settings to use two soundcards

With ALSA you can only address one Audio/MIDI interface. http://www.tedfelix.com/linux/linux-midi.png >> Picture from: Ted's Linux MIDI Guide >> http://www.tedfelix.com/linux/linux-midi.html To use multiple Audio/MIDI interfaces synchronously, in low latency, good audio quality and simultaneously yo...

Re: ect/limits/config file

Because I have just read it the first time consciously and it is unclear to me: Must or should one still do the "dpkg-reconfigure -p high jackd" after adding the entries "@audio - rtprio 95" and "@audio - memlock unlimited" or does the "dpkg-reconfigure -p high jac...

The entry "@audio - nice -19" has no influence on Linux Audio realtime. IMHO

I find different instruments that offer different possibilities interesting.
For me there is not "the (only) instrument".
