An interesting article about sample rates.

With all that said, there are a few places where higher samples rates can be a definite benefit..........

Re: Why is MIDI so broken in Linux?

Welcome! I don't experience it as you do. After using my linux (distri, the older versions  ) studio for some years already i started with midi not that long ago. Like with everything in linux, it was (almost) plug and play. Far from win experience with driver sh!t and all. I only needed some ...

Re: How long do you need to finish a song?

I am very surprised that a serious part of you take so long (many years) to finish a song. I actually can't imagine that (not meanth insulting, just really wondering). Personally i constantly have about 3-5 ideas in my mind which i'm more or less working on and time by time will become releases. And...

Re: Academy Software Foundation: Hollywood relies on Open Source

Let me make this clear: I certainly do not intend to accuse anyone in this thread of racism. If my message gave that impression then I apologize. If you look carefully back at my reaction you will see i didn't quote you in person (deleted name) and only use it for a common massage to not discrimina...

Re: Academy Software Foundation: Hollywood relies on Open Source

Noticing that is obviously racist! I'm not entirely sure if you are serious here, but I disagree. It is an unfortunate fact that racism is still present in our society today, both blatant, but also in subtle, subconscious biases and racial stereotypes. Such subtle traces from our history of racism ...

Re: Academy Software Foundation: Hollywood relies on Open Source

In academics Linux is sooooo common. Because it's so easy to develop software. Almost all student projects hardware is supported by software developed under linux. Students by their later job position are "forced" because there linux isn't commonly accepted. This surprices me, that linux s...

Re: Jack and base noise level

Do you use some (older) analogue outboard gear too? Analogue gear can have some noise. Has to do with the way it's developed. If developed right then it disappears if u use the gear (so if a signal goes through it. Such a misunderstanding. Some shout (older) analogue gear is "bad" because ...

Re: Best synths?

I use those which came with the software and those which came with some plugin-packs i installed. About 20 now? Or some more? Never counted them. Seems i have some more than 20. About 25 then? 30? A part off the ones i use. Some mentioned here already. With these i already can do so much, if not al...

Re: Beat making applications for Linux.

I think you missed thing 'live'. Or at least I understood that point was finding software which suits to live performance, launching loops with external midi controller. Yep. Missed that. Sorry. In that case; Mixxx https://www.mixxx.org/ Powerful Features For All DJs Mixxx integrates the tools DJs ...

Re: Beat making applications for Linux.

I want to achieve this with free and open source application(s). And I will experiment with the suggestions that you are posting here. They will be appreciated appropriately. I think your quest will be more in finding the right samples then finding the right software. With the (highly common) softw...

Re: Best synths?

just one word: hardware . Next to the money part. What is the difference then? Both create a sound wave. If creating the same kind off soundwave it doens't matter were it came from, and both sound the same. What''s te "best" part then? Plugins make you more versatile. That to me is the bi...

Re: Best synths?

For me it looks like having features for nearly everything. Or does it? That's how i think about it too. I think it's the same as with plugins. Some have an everlasting quest for "the perfect one". And others do it with those they have. I'm one of the last group. And linux only overhere. ...

Re: Beat making applications for Linux.

The beat and the rhythm section is the weakest part of my professional audio operating system. I don't agree. The rhythm itself sounds good. I think perhaps you can win some on the editing of it. And that's not to be found in another piece of software, but somewhere in your (already exist...
