Hi all,
Am I just blind or does Vitalium not have the MIDI learn functionality of Vital? Actually, I have both, but Vital doesn't work within my Ardour (Vitalium does), but there is no MIDI learn menu item when right clicking controls like in Vital. Or am I just missing something?
lg,
Michael

Re: DGPatchMaker, a graphical tool for creating DrumGizmo patches from sample libraries
There is PDF in each of the patches which describes the installation. Basically, you download the kits, unpack them, unpack the DrumGizmo patches and copy the unpacked DRUMGIZMO folder into the folder of the kit. The PDFs should list how the directory tree should look like.

Re: DGPatchMaker, a graphical tool for creating DrumGizmo patches from sample libraries
Hm, I just saw, that they did disappear from https://libremusicproduction.com/news/20190213-two-high-quality-drumkits-drumgizmo.html . There was also a kit on the drumgizmo site, but it was not linked anywhere and I currently cannot find it either. The SM Mega Reaper Kit can be found here: https://w...

Re: DGPatchMaker, a graphical tool for creating DrumGizmo patches from sample libraries
@Bella
This is nice to hear and also good feedback!
Indeed, it is quite stable from a "crashing" point of view, that's exactly why I wrote it in Haskell. Just handling GTK in the user interface is always a bit quirky and most instability comes from there.
Anyway, thanks!

@Bella: you are welcome!
I think sharing of knowledge is often important so that it doesn't get lost (or bitrot in some git repository ).

DGPatchMaker, a graphical tool for creating DrumGizmo patches from sample libraries
Hi all, DGPatchMaker is now open-sourced for quite some time, but got some polish in the last weeks again. I also added some documentation and an introductionary video. What is DGPatchMaker? It is a graphical tool to create drumkits for DrumGizmo for existing sample libraries. Creating the XML files...

Re: Spitfire Audio free sample libraries
This looks rather interesting. I was unable to download their app however. Their system seems to recognize that I'm not running Mac/Win and offers a dialog box that says "Download other". However, clicking that does nothing. There is also an option to download the Mac/Win app,but that too...

Yes, I got the app from the separate download page. Go to here: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/info/librar...

Spitfire Audio free sample libraries
Hello, Spitfire Audio currently has some free sample libraries available on it's website: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/ If you know, Spitfire Audio has some very good sample libraries especially for orchestration. I was successfull to download and install the libraries on Linux (and already us...

Re: liftoff (instrumental metal)
Hi all, I wrote/recorded this one recently: https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/liftoff/ My playing is still rough at spots, but I don't mind a touch of "organic" sound coming from small flubs as long as there aren't too many. Actually, I think your playing is fine. Sure you can always get...

Re: Some programming notes: C++ 11 features
I've been working with some code that used modern techniques. The new C++11 (OK it's been a few years now) meaning of the 'auto' keyword is amazing ! 'Auto' has been around for decades but nobody, including me, has ever really used it. Yeah, take a look at Haskell. Every time I get back to C++ I mi...

Re: Saturation
That's strange. I've never had a saturation plugin make drums punchier. It's normally the opposite. But then you say it's also good to tame transients, which is the opposite of making drums punchy. I've never tried the Calf one though so maybe it can do both things? I find high transients more &quo...

Re: ardour: drumgizmo midimap doesn't work
Hey, I'm using ardour with drumgizmo as drumplugin. Although I loaded the corresponding midimap.xml file to the drumgizmo plugin it doesn't show the name of the instrument - see screenshot. It only shows the note 'F#2' Unfortunately, that is not how Ardour and Drumgizmo work. The midimap file is on...

Re: Saturation
What open source saturation plugins do you like? In what circumstances do you find them useful? Calf Saturator. It's a fixed part of my master bus as well as on quite a lot of tracks (as you can see in my videos [1]). It makes drums punchier, warms certain instruments (piano, strings, synths), can ...
