Re: Just installed kxstudio repos, no audio from browser +hum
Thanks. That solved the sound from Firefox problem. I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by the second question. I'm using a Presonus Audiobox USB and that's what it's set to use.

Just installed kxstudio repos, no audio from browser +hum
Hi, I recently installed the KXStudio repos in the most recent version of MX Linux. Everything is fine except for 2 things: I have audio, but not from Firefox. I used to have a fix for this but I can't seem to find it. Here's the log output from JACK: Sun Apr 5 18:10:12 2020: Client 'a2j' with PID 3...

seeking info on MIDI controllers, thinking Arturia
HI all, I am getting more into the hardware side of synths and reducing my use of software synths. They just seem more intuitive for the way I work. Anyway I'm looking for advice on a controller for keyboardless and modular synths. It has to have DIN, CV, and optionally USB. A sequencer and/or apreg...

Looking for workstaion keyboard with specific features
Hi, I hope this is the right section. I'm looking for a workstation synth but I have some specific requirements. I mostly buy vintage synths and I'm looking for features along the lines of The Korg Triton or Yamaha Motif. I have a couple problems, though. Because of space constraints I can only get ...

Bottom end distorted on mp3's
Ever since I got my new audio interface {Behringer UMS404HD) I've noticed the bottom end is distorted with mp3 files. Not severely but you can definitely hear it when a bass drum kicks on or a particularly strong bassline plays. This doesn't happen with other file types. I can push a lot more volume...

Are there any big artists that use FOSS software?
I'm just curious. Years ago I found footage of Skrillex using mixing software at a festival that looked suspiciously like Mixxx. I could be wrong though. I'm just wondering if anyone is aware of any really big names in any genre that use a FOSS or mixed FOSS and proprietary workflow...

Video and audio freeze when JACK is on
I recently installed Ubuntu Studio 16.04 with the KXstudio repos. Everything is working fine except when JACK is turned on video and audio won't play. Tried several audio and video files in several formats, all with the same result. This also affects video in Firefox and Chrome. No odd terminal outp...

Recently installed repos, dependency conflicts
I recently went to install the kxstudio repos in ubuntu-mate 17.10. Unfortunately it seems I've run into some dependency conflicts. I believe it has to do with wine issues and I'm not sure how to go about fixing this. I use Carla a lot and I also use Windows VST's, Mostly in LMMS through Vestige but...

Re: ubuntu studio 16.04 + kxstudio video and audio won't play
Unfortunately it was already installed and the bridge was started. I also tried changing the ALSA Bridge to ALSA>Pulseaudio>JACK but that didn't change anything. It's this way in any daw as well. no audio samples will play. Audio and video will just freeze at the very start and do nothing. Not even ...

Re: MIDI controllers not showing up in claudia or any other
Sorry it took me so long to reply. Things were showing up for a few days and I figured the problem was a fluke. Now they're not showing up again. Everything shows up now in the commands you gave as well as lsusb, but the instruments don't show up in qjackctl, claudia or catia. I did try plugging dif...

ubuntu studio 16.04 + kxstudio video and audio won't play
I'm having a new weird problem. I'm running Ubuntu Studio 16.04 with the kxstudio repos. I installed the repos per these instructions: https://freedompenguin.com/articles/how-to/home-recording-ubuntu-studio-part-two-install-o-rama/ Things were going along ok but now when I start jack, whether throug...

MIDI controllers not showing up in claudia or any other
Hi, I just did an Ubuntu Studio install with the kxstudio repos. I've got everything going but my MIDI controllers (2 keyboards, drum pad) aren't showing up. I've looked in the jack and a2j logs an there are no errors when starting alsa MIDI in Cadence or any other MIDI related errors in the logs. T...

Looking for a new keyboard controller - need certain things
I'm looking for a new keyboard controller. What I would really like is a 49 key controller with plenty of knobs that's (obviously) easy to use and map in Linux. Also, I don't want any drumpads on it. I have a drum controller I'm very happy with. I'm finding plenty of newer keyboards with lots of kno...

Re: kxstudio repos + which OS? What do you like?
Again, Thanks all!
I think I'm going to take a conservative approach and go with Debian-stable. If that doesn't work out then I'll go with Mint 18.
Again, thanks everyone. You gave me some great direction for my research and it comes much appreciated.
