Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

And what makes a forum any different than real life? When it comes to good manners, do you always feel so "entitled" to jump into a group and tell them to talk about what YOU want to talk about when the conversation evolves into something you're just not interested in? My experience of re...

Re: transition everything to Discourse

What offers additional freedom/choices or makes something objectively better (e.g. faster internet at the same cost) is progress. What takes away something that I liked is change. Don't mess them up. This has nothing to do with black/white thinking. I don't think the transition to a more modern for...

Mixing tracker modules with Chipdisco or Mixxx

I'd recommend Mixxx over Chipdisco these days. Mixxx does not has mute/solo control for individual tracks, but not having stereo output is too big a disadvantage of Chipdisco. Also, I've fixed and updated a script to download modules from The Mod Archive en masse - https://github.com/mxmilkb/moddown...

Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

Saying "we" is a bit unfair IMO. There is a history of conversations on LM getting off the original topic through some aside or subtopic becoming the main point of comments. Some people get frustrated by this and try to communicate or make requests about it. That and the BSD vs GPL / Free ...

Re: transition everything to Discourse

that first screenshot make me think font rendering isn't correctly configured there. "Too many people think that "modern" (in other words: different) is automatically better. ... Too many coders want to change things for change's sake" i wonder why you would say that? as it's not...

Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

Ugh, I'll see if I can find time/energy to revert. Google Sheets is a horrific CPU hog, and my using bleeding edge swaywm doesn't help with that.

lower case free as in freeware. I will change that.

Re: Can't take ownership of exFAT HDD's

Thanks. I've just gone and reread most of this thread, apologies for missing/forgetting it was Cinnamon previously. So in Cinnamon, it's Nemo, the file manager, that manages the external drive automounting. source: https://www.systutorials.com/241394/how-to-disable-auto-mounting-on-linux-mint-cinnam...

Re: Can't take ownership of exFAT HDD's

As I've said I'm not using Windows partitions, but, pmount is used with a USB key that has a windows partition as such: % df -Th /dev/sde1 vfat 3.0G 173M 2.9G 6% /media/mevla/E223-9F8C I did not use the term "Windows", but I don't actually think there is any technical difference between t...

Re: Can't take ownership of exFAT HDD's

while it has already been stated, from the phrasing of words in recent posts it seems it might need stating again that; exfat formatted drives do not have a concept of ownership/permissions for files within that filesystem. it will be the mount point that has ownership. figuring out the method of mo...

yay, glad I could help some :)

I've orphaned the package on AUR as I don't use muse so someone else can maintain it if they wish

Re: muse-git for arch

I can build MusE when pulled from git without the PKGBUILD but using AUR the muse in the AUR is a static version, not git backed. Even did what Milk suggested and it won't build anymore. there are four sed statements in the PKGBUILD. commenting out one is probably not going to help the entire build...
