Re: A (short) happy tune made with Yoshimi, Hydrogen, and Synth1

I recognise some of those sounds :)

Nice work.

P.S.
I've been rather tied up with all sorts of things these last months - really need to listen to more music!

Re: Sonoj Convention 2024: This Weekend, In-Person, Video Stream and Live-Chat

I had a really good time there, but being virtually back-to-back with SynthFestUK, I'm now pretty knackered (picking up some horrible bug on the train home didn't help)

Yoshimi - HoHum a bugfix already

There were three of them. The first was a failure to test a headless build and there was a detail we'd forgotten. The second was not accounting for some less common build environments. The third was a total surprise. It was a bug in effects that goes back at least 6 years and probably further, but o...

Yoshimi 2.3.3 out now!

Version 2.3.3 Configuration control has been improved - using start-up options no longer modifies the stored settings, but if you change a setting while running, just that configuration change is stored. There has been further work on GUI themes management, along with unification and consolidation o...

Re: Why using Linux for music production?

With any synth, hard or soft, the importance of good default settings can't be overstated. To that end I give a shout out for Paul Nasca. The values he decided on in 2006, have remained untouched by us in Yoshi, and I would guess the same is true for Zyn. Enable any feature in any engine or effect a...

Interesting - seems to have a sort of oriental flavour.

Re: Obligatory hello from the UK - London and Cambridge

Depends on what you want to do, and how much you're into bells and whistles
I've been using Linux exclusively for years, but my needs are fairly simple, and I have no interest in GUI effects attempting to look like hardware.

Ahha, where my inlaws are! (a suitable distance I feel  )

Good planning? Or {cough} happenstance?

Re: Libre Music Challenge #32: Drum and bass

I'm very grateful for the reviews, and they pretty much confirm what I guessed - D&B isn't really my 'thing'.
The only reason I haven't done reviews myself is that I tend to have only a gut feeling about music, and can't verbalise what I think - sorry.
