Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

In Qtractor you can place MIDI clips overlapping. Doesn't look good and it's hard to select the right clip. But you can have several tracks feeding a bus with your drum-plugin. In Rosegarden you can place MIDI clips overlapping, and it looks ok. rg.png Indeed! A very useful feature and I use it fre...

Re: Jack-Audio process callback time period

You and jack can't write to a period at the same time so while you are writing to one, jack is writing to the other, then jack swaps them over - or something like that! I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

Re: Jack-Audio process callback time period/Rate

I don't think you can have less than two periods per buffer. Presumably one or other is being quietly adjusted.

I don't think you can actually have less than two periods per buffer, so presumably one or other is being silently adjusted.

Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

Rosegarden is not really what you'd call a DAW, but I find it by far the easiest for piano roll or notation recording.

[ANN] Yoshimi V 1.7.4

There are no new features in this release. It is really another maintenance one, with a few more bugfixes and code refinements. However, there is a check for when you save an instrument but haven't set a type. This asks you to do so, and also recommends including copyright information. You can ignor...

Re: Greetings from Germany

Hi,
Welcome here.
Not a guitarist myself, but this should be quite do-able. You'll have to move fast to get set up in 2020 though :)
I do know there are a number of guitar effects programs. At it's simplest you could probably record to Audacity.

Others here will have better advice

Re: Just a disabled man writing music

Always good to hear about people with any disability getting into music, and try to help where I can.
My experience is that people in your position do extremely well if given a bit of design consideration!
