Re: Synth with Ardour on Fedora

Most synths are in the main fedora repo. Otherwise add the ycollet copr repo https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs ... t/audinux/

Funny thing is now they know they've been duped some are claiming to have been suspicious all along :)

1-0 for Pianoteq.

I'm not going to claim that I wasn't duped, but the idea of manually playing 20 velocity layers made my brain niggle. I didn't think about it too hard though.

Epic reply, never saw that coming. 10/10 derailment points.

So anyone, who actually has used pipewire, want to answer my question?

No one using pipwewire is in this shitfest of a thread.

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...

So the summary of this thread as I understand it is: The devs say it's still a work in progress, the people already using pw are happy enough, the people not using pw are unhappy.

You can run MicroDexed on a Teensy. https://codeberg.org/dcoredump/MicroDexed

No plans for a pico version, there's an esp32 version somewhere. https://discourse.zynthian.org/t/microd ... o/1989/286

Re: PipeWire

I can't belive people are still bringing up the unix philosophy of "do one thing well" in a forum dedicated to the most monolithic apps available. Even Carla, jalv or Non are monolithic compared to the text utilities around when that idea was invented. Pipewire is coming along fine and is ...

Re: xruns when opening firefox

Firefox has to load from disk. That's going to out a bunch of io based interrupts in your cpu queue. It's also going to poke the network stack. More hardware interrupts.

Are you using the default Fedora with stock Gnome?

Yes. Although I sometimes use Enlightenment. I haven't used KDE on a desktop since 2002.

Re: Fedora - Anyone use it for music?

I use Fedora with pipewire and ycolletts copr and it's pretty flawless. I mostly record audio into ardour, though I do use some synth plugins like ob-xd, Helm and Surge. Then again, I never really had issues with pulseaudio and jack-dbus on Fedora either. It just worked for me. Ain't I a stinker? :l...

Sample mashing app called Samplebrain

I've not had a go with it but it seems to do some beat detection and mixing. https://gitlab.com/then-try-this/samplebrain A custom sample mashing app designed by Aphex Twin. Samplebrain chops samples up into a 'brain' of interconnected small sections called blocks which are connected into a network ...

Re: MXDE-EFL 21.1 Released (aka next AV Linux in development)

I love Enlightenment, but if you're leaving out pipewire then I'm not touching it. Pipewire makes my life a whole heap easier and I'm not going back to futzing around with Jack.
