Ah, good point. Sorry for the misinformation. I had it wrong in my head, not recognizing the SFZ file can exist outside the bundled libraries. I'll stay in my lane of topics going forward rather than waxing idiotic under false assumptions. Thank you for correcting me.

Re: Is still the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 the go-to budget interface?
If you are looking to save some money, the Behringer UMC204HD is the best budget audio interface for Linux in my opinion. They make even less expensive models, but the UMC204HD has the same features as the UMC404HD and UMC1820, just with less inputs and outputs. The switch for stereo/mono monitoring...

Re: SFZ files for old WAV libraries?
If the library creators don't provide them, they likely don't exist. If they do, they would be pirated copies and not something users of this forum condone using or would assist you in locating, even if you own the WAV files. The best option for you would be continuing your own conversions despite t...

Re: Making a headless pianoteq 8 device from a thin client
I think the processor should be fine for your purpose. If Pianoteq can run on a Raspberry Pi 5, it should run even better on a Pentium J5005. That chip appears to be a post-Skylake model, meaning it is a "x86-64-v4" processor and the most modern variant of that architecture. Modartt only s...

Re: Way to adjust system volume when DAW is using ALSA
When an application is using ALSA, the Pipewire-PulseAudio system volume controls are not able to change the volume of the volume coming from the application using ALSA. I believe this is expected behavior. When an application such as Ardour uses ALSA directly, it takes full control of the sound ca...

Re: Lexicon I•ONIX U42S
The device is not compatible with Linux. There is no kernel module to load because no kernel module was written for it. Until that happens, the device is useless on Linux.

Re: NAMM 2025 new audio Interfaces SSL18/Alpha8 & ID48
They are class compliant, and a user on this forum wrote an application that provides access to all the features available in Focusrite's Mac and Windows software:

Re: Setting up Audio Interface
Per my research, the PMUX6 has no built-in effects, but the PMUX9 does. Are you referring to effects plugins you add to the track in Reaper, or did you mistype the audio interface's model number? If the former, this is likely due to a monitor setting in Reaper that needs to be changed. I don't use R...

Re: Lexicon I•ONIX U42S
It probably isn't going to work on Linux. The product's support page provides a driver for Mac, suggesting it is not Class Compliant. There is an old thread on this forum about the U22S model, which uses the same driver, and that user said the device wasn't recognized at all. Perhaps the situation h...

Re: Question About Reaper For Linux With Fedora Workstation (Pipewire)
Thanks for the reply, asbak I hadn't considered live usage, and since I fall into that bucket of users focused on recording, I don't have much understanding of how that type of usage affects configuration. You also brought up MIDI, and I don't have a clear understanding of how Pipewire manages that,...

Re: Question About Reaper For Linux With Fedora Workstation (Pipewire)
Isn't having both JACK and Pipewire installed redundant, assuming that pipewire-jack is included in one's Pipewire setup and prelinked to take system calls for JACK? Why would it be redundant? I use Jack for production audio, not Pipewire. The purpose of Pipewire (for me) is to provide consumer aud...

Re: Omnisphere & yabridge in 2025: Experiences welcome!
Huzzah! You found the answer! The user just needs to somehow downgrade to Manjaro 20.2 and wine-staging 5.22, both obsolete, and everything should be right as rain, correct? You are willing to admit now that switching to AVLinux, Reaper, Yoshimi/Zebra, and buying an old NVIDIA card was useless advic...

Re: Omnisphere & yabridge in 2025: Experiences welcome!
sebasaturn , I can't offer much advice, unfortunately, because I don't use Windows plugins on Linux, but a user on Ardour's forum recently confirmed a plugin of theirs whose GUI didn't render properly on Wayland worked correctly once they switched to X11. I'm not sure if one can easily switch from ...

Re: Omnisphere & yabridge in 2025: Experiences welcome!
I'll be more blunt making my point. If you have no idea how to help someone with a specific problem, making random suggestions that don't have anything to do with the solution isn't helpful. When a person asks for help with software they use, they want help with that software. They aren't asking oth...
