Re: Automation?

Advanced users could also use OSC and/or MIDI messages coming from Pure Data (from basic LFOs to Context Sequencer which looks amazing!) or even Iannix but maybe this belongs to another topic. At least those are great examples of how modular is our favorite OS and how deep you can go in automation. :D

Re: Automation?

The best would be to give us a quick overview of your workflow to set a case study. In the mean time this is what I use automation for: - Precision: an automation track can be edited to get the automated parameter behave exactly like you want it to change over time -> raised that filter cutoff a lit...

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?

First of all, I'm thankful for your work on maintaining KXStudio AND the repositories AND Cadence,Carla,Catia, Claudia AND the DISTRHO plugins AND the DPF AND many other things that I'm sure have brought you a lot of experience on linux system and development. At the risk of sounding rude (which is ...

Re: Convert Mint to KXStudio. Cinnamon vs mate?

Using Mint 18.3 & Cinnamon here, had no problems with it. From the official documentation : Of course, all three desktops are great and Linux Mint is extremely proud of each edition. Although there are more features and better support in some editions than others, and some do run faster and use ...

Re: International Beats

I have the chance to live in Brittany where multi-secular cultural heritage was on the verge of dying a few decades ago but has been going strong since the 70' ( a glimpse on the UNESCO website ). There were few attempts in the 90' to add an electronic touch in its music but it was too early and flo...

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?

Adding to what other said, 1) Flexibility, maintainability, great community 2) Performances even on cheap/old hardware, almost everything that can be done on Mac/Windows can be done with Linux too, generally for a much cheaper cost. 3) High modularity, IoT friendly, access to state of the art DSP pr...

Re: New GxCreamMachine.lv2

I've read recently an interesting concept around re-thinking how guitar signal is amplified, maybe some guitarists here already know that:

Nice one! Did a quick test and everything is working perfectly. I'll have to do a more in-depth test as soon as I can :D

Re: New GxDOP250.lv2

Yes it can with the tools included with the sources. There is no documentation and it is not straightforward but it can. You need some knowledge in Python and Faust mainly. Documentation is on my TODO list after I'll bring my first plugin alive and use it as an example but for the now I'm trying to ...

You can record your clean signal in Ardour and then use the lv2 version of Guitarix plugins to emulate a full stack of preamps/FXs/cabinets :D

Re: DOOM: Behind the Music

This was a really interesting vid, thanks for sharing it! :D Given the fact that our favorite environment is modular by design, it shouldn't be hard to try mimicking what Mick Gordon did to get those "devilish" sounds with Carla, some Guitarix plugins and maybe ImageMagick for imprinting p...
