Re: Tascam FW1834 or M-Audio Projectmix

They are also both Firewire devices which is a protocol being left behind these days. Does the computer you want to use them with have good Firewire capabilities? Thank you for your reply. My desktop computer has Firewire port and my old Dell laptop also has one. I'd also know your opinions about t...

Tascam FW1834 or M-Audio Projectmix

Hi, I'm still looking for an 8 mic preamps audio interface. I have the chance to get one of these old interfaces/surface controllers but I was not able to find information about how they perform on Linux nor about how supported they are, I use mostly Ardour, Also, I'd like to know your opinions abou...

Re: Advice on multichannel audio interface

What jeff said. I have a focusrite saffire 40. It mostly works, except the midi input. I need to do some thing where I put the computer into suspend mode off and on to get it to work. It requires a pci card for the firewire port because motherboards no longer have them. I spent the money years ago,...

Re: Advice on multichannel audio interface

Thank you for your reply. I already have firewire stuff, a Yamaha GO46, I'm more than happy with it. I have a Firewire card on my desktop (TI chipset). I just need more inputs.

Re: Advice on multichannel audio interface

Thank you very much for your reply. I don't plan to use more than one device, the interfaces I mentioned are alternatives, I'd purchase only one of those.

Advice on multichannel audio interface

Hi, I'm looking for a multichannel firewire audio interface, I need at least 8 mic preamps, ADAT ports are desirable but not required. I do prefer full Linux support. I could locally buy these used units: - Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 I/O - M-Audio Profire 2626 - Apogee Ensemble (It has only 4 preamps ...

Re: Advice on buying an USB audio interface

Thank you for all your replies. Finally I ended buying 4 used interfaces on eBay (average price was around $50). It's hard to go wrong in that price range. I bought: - Lexicon Lambda. - Presonus Audiobox. - Mackie Onyx Blackjack - Presonus 22VSL This is what I found after testing and comparing these...

Audiobox 22VSL vs Audiobox 2x2

Hi, I'm trying to find out which are the differences between these units. I already know a few differences: - 22VSL is USB 2.0 (up to 24bits/96Khz) while the previous Audiobox is USB1.1 (up to 24bits/48Khz). - Software bundle is different. I'd like to know if AD/DA chipset is the same or not and if ...

Re: 24bit/96Khz on USB 1.1 interfaces?

After doing some research I found certain interfaces (i.e. Edirol UA-25/UA-25EX) offer 24bit/96KHz resolution but not while using full duplex.

Re: Advice on buying an USB audio interface

Thank you for your reply 1984.

Is the Focusrite USB 6 supported by ALSA driver? I heard it's not class-compliant.

24bit/96Khz on USB 1.1 interfaces?

Hi,
USB 1.1 interfaces are usually able to record at least two tracks at 24/48 rate. Is there some way to record just one track at 24/96? Did somebody tested it? On which interface?
Thank you very much in advance,
Luis Pablo

Re: Advice on buying an USB audio interface

No, no, on the contrary, I'm quite happy with it: it's small and USB-powered, I keep it on my small desk and it's always ready to go. But it IS a cheap device, don't expect too much from it. It may or may not be enough for you. It's enough for me, because when I'm doing "serious" recordin...
