Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
I found this, but not sure if it works in recent environments. https://pi4.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/~haensel/cuse/index_en.html It's still packaged with Archlinux, though no longer maintained. As such it will run. But if you need actual cursor positioning it's difficult. Also it appears to only s...

Re: Some serious shit going on!
Personally I couldn't be bothered if a Big Evil Corp. gets attacked. They're not my family nor do I feel sorry for 'm. They've got an army of IT guys and money. They've also got your data. What if the Digid system gets compromised for example? That will mostly impact unwitting citizens, not big tec...

Re: Some serious shit going on!
No matter what OS or hardware we use: we're never safe. Luckily, the leaks have always been fixed (on Windows, Linux or whatever) before it can get to the masses. Huh, you should read about the Solarwinds affair. It may have taken more than a year before the backdoor was finally discovered. This wa...

Re: Some serious shit going on!
Reminds me of the Heartbleed SnAFU back in the day. I was under the impression that that security risk was (accidentally) caused by a single person or the few persons developing a protocol. Every Evil Big Corp used it because it's for free and they whined like a little bitch when it had an error. We...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever
qtractor from (my) repos, both OBS and PPA, have this in its debian control files: Build-Depends: libjack-dev | libjack-jackd2-dev Well, that very same line is in the control file of the debian package ( https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/qtractor/-/blob/master/debian/control?ref_type=heads )...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever
Who determines what Qtractor depends on? It's developer (@rncbc) or Debian? Both obviously. A distribution maintainer has to decide how to organize the build and the runtime dependencies the given source code (upstream) defines. He/she does this to integrate this given software in the package manag...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever
Who determines what Qtractor depends on? It's developer (@rncbc) or Debian? AFAIK Qrtactor should work fine with PipeWire. Maybe Debian Stable ver. 12 'Bookworm' uses an old version of Qtractor. Even my version is newer and I use Ubuntu 20.

Re: Start the Korg SQ-64 sequencer and Ardour at the same time
I don't use Ardour, but in general you can set a Midi master and slave for the clock/timing in a DAW. Additionally, example: to let the DAW Qtractor send Midi Start and Stop messages one must set the "Midi Clock" to "Output" (among others) in the Options window for Midi/Midi Cont...

Re: Ardour headache
Probably thanks to Kott, it is in the repositories. It installs fine, but I get stuck at midi instrument, when I want to add a midi track. Right now it says no instrument, need to figure out what that is about. :) We talking Ardour or Qtractor? This was about Qtractor. Okay, that clarifies things. ...

Re: Windows VST GUI not refreshing
Curious to see what's the problem I tried to install the demo version of GForce Software's M-Tron Pro IV. That won't even respond to clicking on the button 'Run Demo' to run the demo ha ha. Oh well... I had an issue with Imposcar2 for a while, mouse pointer would disappear when I hovered any...

Re: Accurate MIDI recorder low on resources
midish ? Command line only. High learning curve. Once properly configured and if you use the "Extra RC" ( link webppage , link archive ). When midsh is set up, example (r = record, s =stop, p = play): $ midish [0000:00]> rnew my_midi_keyboard my_synthesiser [0000:00]> r [0000:00]> s [0000...

Re: Ardour headache
[...] Somebody on openSUSE is installing Qtractor. Music making should be fun, not one big fight. From screen shot I already saw stuff I liked better then what I see in Adour. I might not give up on Ardour yet, but I am also not blind for already two people in this topic suggesting Qtract...
