Re: The new kid on the block: Zoom LiveTrak L6
There's no display on it so you cannot overdub if I'm not mistaken. Or maybe only 6 tracks... As a standalone recorder it's a bit limited if you ask me.

Re: What's the simplest way to get started making a plugin (VST3)?
[...] I've wanted to break into making plugins (VST3), particularly for Reaper. [...] Isn't VST independent on the DAW you use? And as far as I know VST is a bit "old-fashioned". Clap is the new kid on the plugins block. I'm tempted to think that they didn't invent a new plugin format for...

Re: Beato: discusses why bands are dissapearing from charts
There are more bands than ever. Just not in the charts. Nowadays you do not make money by releasing a single and sitting on your lazy ass , you make money by performing live! That is: by actually working! I see a different band every week. They're young people, talented and enthusiastic about actual...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
[...] A frame is not a single event, not always. There are events that come at least in pairs. A note on (non) requires a corresponding note off (noff) and aftertouch, either channel pressure or polyphonic aftertouch (cat and kat) needs at least a value greater zero and then zero at the end. My pro...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Hi @Linuxmusician01 , it's gratifying to hear that the Midish stuff still finds takers. I'm looking forward to see your extensions! jeanette_c Still working on my "console step sequencer shell script" that I may or may not ever finish. ;) Can you explain why your commands/procedures rnew ...

Re: Why using Linux for music production?
Manageability. In Win/Apple I wouldn't know how to troubleshoot or it's gonna be pretty hard. I can't remember precisely how it was in Windows (switched almost 20 y. ago) but I vaguely remember something about the Registry . Impossible sh*te to fathom. And every setting is tenfold in there somewhere...

Re: RIP Finale Notation. Next notation program to try?
I've asked a question like this 2 years ago (see reply 8 there). Lilypond seems the way to go since Musescore is dropping Linux support and changing in a bad way. You misunderstood. Musescore dropped JACK support, but there is still a Linux version of Musescore, now called Musescore Studio to diffe...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Are we sure he he was talking about the source code of Bristol and not the source code of a Minimoog emulator/VST? Anyway, I might not have made it crystal clear that one can install Bristol w/ any package manager one wants. I wasn't talking about source code, but about my "user experience&quo...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
When I started on linux I also used them for a bit, but ultimately decided they're too much of a hassle to use, in comparison with just using synth plugins. I would definitely agree with this. They have nice GUIs (although from what I remember they don't scale very well) but you'd likely be able to...

Re: HI. And about controllers and sequencers
Now, that looks interesting, very complicated and probably what I ultimately will want. Mainly because it has a Moog sound. It may take me weeks to learn all of that in my spare time. I've downloaded the minimoog in a tar package. I don't know how to handle manual installations on Linux Mint as I h...
