Re: USB-Midi keyboard UMK49 Jack problems.

[...] Hitting Jacks connect does nothing. Of all the software that you use I only know Jack. I see that you use Qjackctl . Good! Under the tab "Alsa" (which is secret speak for "Alsa MIDI ") drag the output of your Midi keyboard to your Jack and Midi aware synth (e.g. Yoshimi) i...

Re: Any clue on these crash logs? Ubuntu Studio, SooperLooper, Hydrogen, Ardour

I would think the system rebooting is a symptom of something wrong at a lower level. The apps crashing may be caused by this more fundamental problem. Intuitively I agree. A Linux system spontaneously rebooting is pretty darn serious. Could be hardware related (broken memory) could be video driver....

Re: Need some help - Linux distros

I've been using Ubuntu Studio for about 1 week? But I've used Ubuntu as a desktop/development system for at least 5 years. Not once in that entire time did I ever get support "from Ubuntu". I usually do a web search and wind up on Stack Overflow, because I'd wager that most of my question...

Re: SooperLooper + luppp == ???

Interesting project. Luppp's interface is nice but changing (or even checking) its settings is impossible. Maybe you'll succeed in making Luppp/Superlooper so that you can set it to be the Jack transport slave instead of the master.

Maybe we need more Linuxers to become musicians instead of the other way around...

Re: Ubuntu Studio Performance Issues

Does your current distro use Wayland and Gnome3? On my old laptop I could not use Debian 10 because of that (too sluggish). Re-installed Debian 10 w/ Xorg and Mate: probs gone.

Re: Anyone using an Audient iD interface?

Its website says that you do not need a driver (Windows) and that "you can plug your guitar, bass, keyboard or drum machine straight in and start recording instantly". You should have no problems... Are you trying to use a stereo output jack into a balanced input? That might dampen the sou...

Re: trouble syncing Hydrogen to luppp

First of all thank you for the tip about my Hydrogen problems and the lowlatency kernel! I'll try it. If I use Qtractor as the master for the tempo I've no problems. Hydrogen still seems to miss a beat every now and then though... Or replaces the beat (bass drum) partly with some sort of noise... We...

Re: trouble syncing Hydrogen to luppp

I got rif of the weird stutter thing after adjusting the tempo in Luppp before starting it. [edit] Nope. It hangs again... [edit] Might work if one deactivates "Loop song" in Hydrogen... [edit] Looks like it hangs if you select a tempo in Luppp that you've used before, like: just a second ...

Re: trouble syncing Hydrogen to luppp

@Digital Larry: I hear you. Working DAW-less is 100 times better than with a DAW. So Luppp is a looper, eh? Good to know. One of its users or developers might consider writing a manual [edit: I hadn't read your reply above when I was writing this] or make it clear that it works the same as Ableton R...

Re: trouble syncing Hydrogen to luppp

I can reproduce this error. I don't know exactly what Luppp is and what it does. I can't find any settings for it, it doesn't have a man page and I cannot find a manual on its homepage (only some technical document). First I thought that it might be a problem arising from Hydrogen and Luppp both wan...

Re: Need some help - Linux distros

This is probably a silly question, but can someone tell me if I should download the "Direct" version or the "Torrent" version? I would think it would be the "Direct" version, but I am guessing. thanks I'm convinced they're both the same. I'd simply download the "d...
