Re: Bitwig Studio 3.0 is out now.

@jonetsu: thanks. Fascinating. You switched from Ardour to Bitwig. You used to do things the "tape recorder" way. I also only know how to think in the "multi-track tape recorder from the seventies" way. Wouldn't know how to record music another way... Is there a Youtube tutorial ...

Re: Won't search VST2 or VST3 paths

Afaik carla doesn't support vst3 My version of Carla (2.0.90 aka 2.1-alpha2) seems to do. When I click on the button "Add plugin" a dialog window opens and under "Plugin format" is says, among others, "VST3". @rhollan: can you point me to a free VST3 plugin so I can te...

[maybe off topic] What do y'all like better in Bitwig than in other DAW's?

[...]And still about Xubuntu and LM, for Mixbus the following has to be run in order to use a MIDI controller: a2j_control ehw start And when that has been run, going back to Bitwig means doing: killall /usr/bin/a2jmidid Wow! Re: Linux geek new to KxStudio

I think that you're an audiophile, am I right. Anyway, I tend to think that VST's are meant for music production with a DAW (digital audio workstation, like Ableton Live, Bitwig etc.). If you want to to things w/ Carla, midi etc.: do you use jack? Your setup is too complicated to understand for me a...

Re: Upgrade UbuntuStudio 16.04 to 18.04 repositories?

Well I shall then go through the process of delete and then re-add. I appreciate the posts. It does increase my understanding as to how some things function. Thank you all! Just follow the instruction from the KXStudio website again: https://kx.studio/Repositories. That's it. :) NOTE from KXStudio ...

The packager and falktx reguraly communicate about this on irc.

I didn't know that! Thought one could only use the KXStudio repo's for that stuff. Learned something today, thank you. :)

Re: Looking for a good quality Audio interface... for cheap...

P.S. About that M-audi midi to USB device: you can also use a cable thingy fro Aliexpress (link). Dirt cheap and works like a charm on Linux, Android etc. No driver needed. :) Pretty darn weird that the M-Audio won't work...

Kinda hoping that if the 1820 is plug n play then it should detect midi too... guess i'll find out when i bite the bullet and buy it! :D atm i only ne...

You asked tht in another topic too. I think (dunno for sure) that Midi should be supported really good. I mean: the usb audio interface we're talking about only has Midi in and out... How hard can that be...

Re: Having trouble setting up JACK and my VSTs with Bitwig on Manjaro

Your second prob. is starting Jack on a system w/ PulseAudio. I'll try to help you w/ that. But first: you say you have troubles w/ Carla and bridging Windows VST's. You say that the needed packages don't work/don't install. Since you use Manjaro Linux you cannot use the KXStudio repositories. That'...

Re: Behringer UMC 1820 - Midi?

In this topic on an Ardour forum the user named 'Mikael Hartzell' has an extensive review. I believe it works quite well, be it that some have troubles w/ ADAT. I think that Midi should work well because that's one of the simplest things to support: simply in and through.
