Re: What is your favorite female vocalist?
Karen Carpenter was a unique talent. Just such a naturally unadorned beautiful sound. Ella Fitzgerald was my first thought. One of the high water marks of musicianship among vocalists and an outstanding improviser. I like Yasuko from Melt Banana for how she fronts a band and being batshit insane. Do...

Re: Ardour-$foobar
I am kind of bummed out that any development time at all was spent on MIDI. We might have a legit Protools alternative by now if all that labor wasn't wasted. I've never understood why keyboard players couldn't just play their parts and record the audio like everybody else, but that's another story.

Re: Anyone used a Yamaha MG10XU usb class 2 compliant mixer?
Hey man, This is an older thread, so it's likely you have already made a decision, but just in case you or someone else could use some input: If it's class compliant it should work, I can't speak to that as I've never tried, but: I am a live audio engineer and I sometimes find myself mixing on MG se...

Re: Your Thoughts on EQs
I use the EQ10Q for narrow cuts and the built in channel EQ and bus tone controls in Mixbus32C for broad tone shaping.

Re: Handling 3/4 time sig
I am not a Muse user, but on paper and with every sequencer I have ever used a whole note always whole note and a half note is always a half note. If you want a full measure of 3/4 you want a dotted half. If you want half a measure of 3/4 you want a dotted quarter.

Re: external dac and use 5.1 sound card with an ubuntu PC
It is not 100% clear what you are trying to do, but I am pretty sure the answer is no. The 5.1 sound card is also a DAC, one with 6 analog outputs. If your external DAC sounds better and you only need 2 channels of output you can use that. If you need all 5+1 channels from the internal card you can ...

Re: Music player advise/recommendations needed
Hello All, I came across this forum while searching for a Music player recommendation. My only requirement from the player is to play the consecutive tracks without any need to create Library or Playlist. I had such a feature in Potplayer on Windows such that lets say I have 50 tracks in a folder, ...

Re: Music player advise/recommendations needed
Hello mike6190, VLC player can do this, this way - Open music folder (directory) Drag over the songs to highlight them Right click any highlighted one from the appearing menu click "Open with VLC media PLayer" Isn't that making a playlist? I mean, that's how I would do something like this...

Re: Good compressor for mixbus
Pretty sure he is talking about the mixbus, as in the stereo mix. Not the Mixbus as in the Harrison product. I'm quite new to dynamics processing, and I'm in the process of trying to learn compression. I find experimenting with different kinds of compressors on individual tracks to be challenging, b...

Re: which song is coming out of your speakers right now?
Radical Jewish music : John Zorn's Masada String Trio, live in Warsaw, Poland, 1999. 'Warning' for perhaps some, 'offensive' language at the beginning. Full concert, 1 hour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a95ODn5k_1c (I'll reply to the covid-19 thread later, no time now) That stuff is so great. I ...
