Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

OK, I have located a flaw in my way to create bootable USB's: they're only bootable once
That means, every time after you boot the live USB, you have to write the ISO to the USB all over again or it won't boot.
I have absolutely no idea what is causing this.

Re: Are you addicted to a genre of music?

I don't have a favourite genre. Every genre has good and bad songs.
The only genre I really can't stand is pop.

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

I FIXED IT FINALLY The trick is to run isohybrid path/to/KXStudio.iso and then to just run dd if=path/to/KXStudio.iso of=/dev/sdX The usb will be bootable and everything will work. So basically, just make your iso's hybrid next time, and then people can just dd them onto their USBs and everything wi...

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

Testing a few other things now. Running isohybrid over the ISO file, then installing it with unetbootin gives the same result as using usb-creator. Before running isohybrid it just booted to a blinking cursor, so that's an improvement. Now I'm gonna redownload the iso file - the checksum was correct...

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

Problem is, I don't have a disk drive on this PC. There's very few things that still use CDs or DVDs these days, after all.
Oh well, I guess I'll wait for the next release and hope it's fixed then.

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

Ok, I've made a live cd on an ubuntu installation with the tool you told me. And it boots. It gives me a screen with an option to boot the live cd or boot from my harddrive. However, upon picking the first option, I get the following: BusyBox V1.2.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.21.0-1ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash) (i...

Thanks for your help!
EDIT: Another thing I'll try later today is boot an ubuntu live CD, then use the usb-creator tool you said worked.

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

Well, by turning persistence off I managed to get it to boot... It gave an error about not being able to load some file (I don't recall which file, should've written it down) and let me to a boot: prompt. Pressing tab revealed that I had the choice between "live", "hd", "mai...

Re: Can't get KXStudio to boot

I use Arch, but there seems to be an AUR package for that. Will try it out after I'm finished doing what I'm doing and report here. EDIT: You got anything else? This package is bugged to all hell and back, among others: * Will get stuck on 99% when creating persistence * Exiting it while it's creati...

Can't get KXStudio to boot

Things I tried: dd if=Downloads/KXStudio_14.04b_64bit.iso of=/dev/sdb dd if=Downloads/KXStudio_14.04b_64bit.iso of=/dev/sdb1 These two don't do anything and just skip to the bootloader on my main harddrive I also tried installing through unetbootin but when I try to boot kxstudio it just gives me a ...
