Re: BIAS FX 2 on Linux
I've been using elite version on windows for 3 years now without any problems. I really don't want to waste time on configuring ... Are you still able to run it under Windows or did you wipe it? Perhaps you still have it in dual boot? If you don't want to waste time configuring, is there a reason w...

Re: BIAS FX 2 on Linux
In my experience, linux Reaper daw, with winehq's wine-staging 9.21 or earlier, or wine-stable 9.0 or earlier, and the latest yabridge plugin wrapper, is the shortest path to success in creating music with tools from windows audio. Hopefully someone has more accurate experience to share with using ...

Re: Ubuntu 22.04 support ends in ~two weeks
That Geekos looks nice... if I ever have some long spare time, I'd install openSuse to try this.
But I'm currently running a great working setting in Linux Mint, .... and the Geekos sounds like... some breakfast cereals:

Re: Is still the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 the go-to budget interface?
I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, does the trick like it should.
Don't know what DAW you'll be using, but in Reaper you need to set the input on "right" to be able to get the sound through... Left doesn't do anything, anyway the sound from my guitar is mono so it doesn't matter.

Re: Strumming (no I can't play guitar)
Gonna think about getting a guitar. My soundcard does have a guitar connection. Focusrite scartlett solo. I have off course not been trying to do this for 5 years. I have been taking breaks :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgP7diWQOmY I use a Focusrite solo too, it's easy, working on Linux out of...

Re: Strumming (no I can't play guitar)
If the sound of strummed guitar is at all important to you (more than getting one song out of your ears), spending a small amount (anywhere from 50 - 200 USD) for a cheap guitar and putting in a short time learning the simplest chords is a far better use of your time and money than trying to emulat...

Re: A Linux or FLOSS music label ?
Maybe a playlist make more sense. I was also thinking about a sort of compilation, on a site like BandCamp or so? Like this here, for people using LMMS, they frequently make a compilation with tracks made by their users: https://lmms.bandcamp.com/album/the-best-of-lmms-vol-7 However, I don't know i...

Re: radio free fedi
Unfortunately Radio Free Fedi was closed at the end of 2024, but there's a new effort that's trying to take the baton: https://indieart.support/ At the moment it's just a directory of who contributed media to RFF, as a discovery mechanism, but I think the plan is getting back to a point where songs...

Re: What videogame are you playing?
I loved (and still sometimes play) AOE2 multiplayer, and I saw 0ad years ago. It looks more polished now, have you played it more recently? Haven't played it anymore afterwards, I'm always lacking time for everything. Even my hobbies have no real priorities anymore. I'm longing for a new pandemic, ...

Follow me and let me know it's you, and I'll gladly follow you back! :) Boulevardi, you are already following me and I am following you--perhaps you didn't realize it because I used my real last name. ;) Yes, I just notice now too. Well that's because with other names and other avatars, sometimes w...

Re: Funkwhale - A federated, decentralized (ActivityPub) libre alternative to Soundcloud
You keep saying that nothing is happening in the Fediverse. I explained to you why you are experiencing this. But despite what you say, and what you feel, you are completely incorrect. The Fediverse rewards you for the effort you put into it. Just in the last two days, I've had interesting conversa...

Re: Funkwhale - A federated, decentralized (ActivityPub) libre alternative to Soundcloud
Hosting stuff on your own website is far better, as control over your own space goes. Shared hosting is much more affordable and it's far easier to set up things that can work on it. If you want a place to backup, nextcloud can be installed on shared hosting and is really good. Static web site gene...

Re: Funkwhale - A federated, decentralized (ActivityPub) libre alternative to Soundcloud
But I think the stake is too big and if we play our cards well today, maybe in 5-6 years things like Funkwhale will be more mainstream. Mastodon for example became more popular after the mainstream social networks started banning people. I totally like the idea... but. We're now around 5 years late...

Re: What videogame are you playing?
I'm not that kind of gamer apparently, I like it though... but soon I realize I'm wasting my precious time that I could spend on other things and then I quit. So when I was still young, in my youth I played Age of Empires, and Unreal Tournament aswel. Now during pandemic I figured out there is an op...
