Re: Something bit different: Possessed

It's THE HORROR :D

Very nice track, slow music, gets better when listening more times.

Re: Which DAW to pick?

Didn't know about this DI box yet. Seems interesting. If you try Guitarix, be aware that it uses jack, (except the LV2 plugin). Haven't got this working yet, as I'm not a jack fan. However you can do much with jack, like Rakarrack etc... But soon you'll notice that there are daw's where you can use ...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

Reïnstalled Xfce from scratch. Pavucontrol as volume mixer. For some reason it is now directly working out of the box... The input/output fields of the ALSA settings were already filled in with the Scarlett in Reaper. And no latency at all when recording. :o Don't know what went wrong in the...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

That sounds as if you re-installed the whole OS to change to Cinnamon. You don't have to do that! That's exactly what I did  Just as you can have multiple browsers or DAWs installed, you can have multiple DEs, and choose the one you want at login. Yes, I tried that first. Perhaps I followe...

Re: Which DAW to pick?

I tried a lot of daw's in the past couple of years.

Reaper is my favourite. Lightweight, fast, stable, straightforward, userfriendly.
Works perfect in Linux Mint Cinnamon (probably going to test it again in Xfce tonight)
It has a native linux version, and it installs fast and easy.

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

If necessary, I can always go back installing Cinnamon again... if the desktop environment is really causing the problem... Reïnstalled Cinnamon, this went quite quick, as my working files are on a separate disk. Opened Reaper, error message, went to Reaper Preference menu, ALSA input/output field ...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

Why? If you don't know why something works or why it doesn't work then you shouldn't wildly install one distribution after another. If it's only the desktop environment that you want to replace then most distributions allow to install alternate desktop environments like xfce4. Why, well I tested Xf...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

I recommend setting up jack, configuring Pulseaudio to output via jack (with jack-sink) and having all audio programs output to jack if they can. Then you can connect everything with everything. Thanks for the idea of using Jack, but since I started with Linux in 2014, I did a long time configuring...

Re: Focusrite scarlet solo into Reaper

Have the same problem right now. Don't know why it happened. Until yesterday I worked with Linux Mint Cinnamon (18 ?) With a Focusrite Solo, Reaper worked directly out of the box. Since today, I switched to another OS (Linux Mint XFCE 19), and installed Reaper again. Now, Reaper doesn't seem to reco...

Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

Nice handy overview.

I count around 30 different daw's...

With each pos en negative stuff, some daw's lack options that others have and vice versa.

Wouldn't it be better to all work together and narrow it down to a choice of around 5 daw's instead?
And all focus to make them work 100%.

Re: Evening Jam Reloaded (Rock Track)

I certainly like the muddy bass on the background and the drum over it.
Very beefed up, even without the guitar soloing over it. 8)

Keep rocking !!

Re: My first recording in a full Linux environment ^^

I borrowed this device from a friend to test it:
https://hifimediy.com/usb-isolator

But it did't work at all.
No sound coming in or out anymore.

Anyway, I found another positive fact: when I unplug the usb from my ModDuo device, I have less noise when recording.

Re: My first recording in a full Linux environment ^^

Would it help to use a device like AudioQuest Jitterbug or this one below to reduce this kind of noise:

Re: My first recording in a full Linux environment ^^

A solid job for your first all-Linux production! I rather like the atmospheres you are creating with the guitars. My favorite part is the guitar at the end. Is that a nylon string guitar? I might suggest placing an EQ on the master bus and lowering the midrange just a bit. That might open up some s...
