Re: yabridge/wine vst ui bug
What I can report with 9.21 is that when enabling "emulate virtual desktop", it kind of works with some plugins for certain operations (like VST screen size resizing) but it also breaks some functionality when interacting with the VST GUI interface. In some cases selecting patches or acces...

Re: yabridge/wine vst ui bug
There is a quick fix in wine, just start winecfg, choose the graphics rider and select "emulate virtual desktop" . That helped to correct the mouse offset which makes it nearly impossible to operate any plugin. I used the fix with yabridge and it worked fine. Hi Castle Studios If I unders...

The S Christian Collins soundfont (mentioned in the OP) appears to work nicely with GM Midis

Re: Asus 'advanced audio' chip
Too funny  My 2c for good sound on a budget would be to just pick up a second hand Edirol USB card on Evilbay or Craigslist or whatever. Obviously just check to confirm first that it is known to work in Linux. UA-25, UA-101, UA4-FX etc. (DONT GET THE UA4-FX2, does not work.) That gets you a...

Re: Asus 'advanced audio' chip
Advanced Audio is marketing waffle for consumers. In their own words Sonic Studio supports HRTF-based (head-related transfer function*) virtual surround for headsets, casting an immersive aural landscape that draws you deeper into the action. The intuitive Sonic Studio interface also offers a range ...

Re: FFADO Mixer. Save Scene and Recall Later?
With Ubuntu being perhaps one of the more popular versions of Linux, I sure wish it could have a set of .deb installers for various versions. But being that it's FOSS, I suppose we're fortunate to have FFADO at all! That I do realize. Can't you just rip and install the deb packages from Savoury's r...

Re: How does Jack or Jackd know to look for FFADO's Firewire Driver?
You possibly have bits and pieces of this and that on your system by now and this could be leading to issues such as the ones you're encountering now. You could uninstall the jack packages and then compile jack and FFADO drivers yourself Or you could (maybe), try rip some already compiled packages f...

Re: Roland Boutique USB audio
Has anyone been able to get audio over USB from the Boutique range of synths from Roland working? I have the SH-01A and JU-06A, and MIDI over USB is working for both of them. The devices also show up as audio sources in Pipewire, but I do not get any sound from them. Dunno if this is related but fo...

Re: How does Jack or Jackd know to look for FFADO's Firewire Driver?
Method 1)
Select firewire device in qjackctl, start jack in qjackctl
Method 2)
Start jackd firewire device from a terminal window, for example
jackd -d firewire --help
A) The FFADO driver needs to be installed, is it installed?
B) The ALSA Dice driver needs to be disabled, is it disabled?

Re: PipeWire (0.38.1+) as a JACK client
It's not a "jackdbus already running problem", but is because there is a PA audio stream running, or having pavucontrol running, or whatever occupies the audio card. If you try to start JACK with jackdubs (with jackdbus already running or not) a second time again, after a few seconds, the...

Re: PipeWire (0.38.1+) as a JACK client
I'm not sure what you are talking about. If I have Jack D-bus enabled in Qjackctl and I have started jackdbus with jack_control or with Qjackctl itself I don't see any difference, aka problems, in starting JACK, and PW "client" is created correctly. I don't know what you are talking about...

Re: PipeWire (0.38.1+) as a JACK client
If jack dbus is already running it will screw things up
I kill it with a qjackctl startup script, when starting jack

Geoffrey writes support software for Focusrite products, you can research supported devices by reading through his posts https://linuxmusicians.com/search.php?author_id=15386&sr=posts Whether you want to spend extra money on newer model audio interfaces is a personal choice. Is "newer"...
