Re: VLC Player slow startup at first start

I found out that Audacity actually does the same thing. First run after boot -> very slow.

I will investigate some more.

Playing live gigs with Linux

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but what are people using to actually play in a rehearsal room or very small gigs? Because I might have my first live gig using Linux next year... I have no idea how to do this, but my requirements are fairly simple. Basically I will be using a PC with Focusr...

Re: VLC Player slow startup at first start

No suspicious output when running from a terminal with or without verbose mode. lsmod outputs are identical before and after running vlc.

I think I will take this to a VLC mailing list or something. I use VLC in combination with qjackctl.

Re: Beginner musician, Intermediate Linux user here.

Hello Kevin,

Cool to hear about that. I am a guitar teacher in Austria and I use Linux in my lessons.

That F chord is a tough one! Do you play an acoustic or electric guitar? Happy practising!

VLC Player slow startup at first start

When I run VLC Player for the first time (after a fresh boot), it starts really slow. I guess it has to load some system-wide libraries or something, once. Is there anything I can do to pre-load stuff at boot time? I'm using Ubuntu Studio by the way and the VLC version is 2.2.0 Weatherwax (yes it's ...

My JTC Jam of the Month guitar solo entry

Here's my entry for the JTC Jam of the Month! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlX-5danJes Guess what, I'm using Guitarix, actually with a preset I've made a few days ago. Please do some likes on the video so I can do more stuff with guitarix. Also check out all the other entries on the JTC Facebook ...

Re: Milk Shake - Backing Track for bass or guitar

I'm back one more time with some stuff: The following 166MB archive contains all the source files to the Milk Shake song. There's an Audacity project with the guitar tracks in it, a Guitarix preset file, a Hydrogen drum track file, the Milk shake picture (public domain from pixabay), an OpenShot vid...

Re: Milk Shake - Backing Track for bass or guitar

Hey man, sounds like a cool idea! Where do I have to sign up and what do I have to do, can you tell me more about it? I'm incredibly busy right now, also have to find some free time to record my entry for the JTC Jam of the Month. For starters I could upload the drums and individual guitar tracks of...

Re: Milk Shake - Backing Track for bass or guitar

Your guitars are about 6dB quieter than your drums. I found out by using a Calf Limiter in Harrison Mixbus. By squashing down 5 to 6 decibels of peaks, your song sounds a lot more balanced and makes the drums sound more inline with the guitars. Also, try to bring out some more air in the cymbals an...

Re: Configure Rakarrack(Ubuntu 13.10) with Line6 pod

1) Is there any way with which I can still play background music from my computer. I guess when Jack server is started pulse-audio is killed. I want to play backing tracks. This was possible in windows. You can use VLC player and use the package named vlc-plugin-jack. More in this thread: http://ub...

Re: Milk Shake - Backing Track for bass or guitar

Hey man, do you need the track as a download? wav/mp3? I'll upload it soon somewhere. You could also post your solo over the track somewhere. I think it's so much fun to jam to something like this! I know there's a ton of backing tracks sites but creating your own with Guitarix is so cool! My own im...
