Re: OPA FM Synthesizer Shield (kickstarter / last hours)
Speaking of hardware FM synths, I found this FPGA implementation of the OPL3 really clever. It's based on actual decapping and reverse engineering of the yamaha chip.

Re: [ANN] reMID.lv2 (that's right. a chiptune plugin.)
It'd be better if reMID could import LMMS presets directly, without conversion. Be careful what you wish for if that involves adding a dependency on a XML parser to the plugin  As there do not seem to be huge libraries of patches in LMMS format, that's probably not overhead worth having. A...

Re: How best to share audio?
Disclaimer: it works like this here, no guarantee it's the same on every distro: If you use JACK : - It claims the ALSA audio inputs/outputs for itself. JACK can mix an arbitrary number of output streams into one output, so you can run many JACK applications and it will just work, no need to change ...

Re: Real time arranger for Linux
That looks cool, a lot of built-in styles too. I wasn't certain of that for the OP's program (I don't have a Yamaha synth to import stuff from).j_e_f_f_g wrote:Then try my real-time arranger too.witchspace wrote:just want to try out some styles

Re: Why "notes", duples?
And when I have talked with "real musicians" about this, they have tended to have no real answers why, apart from "tradition". Absolutely. Music theory is basically a language. It makes it easier to talk about what you are doing to other musicians. Like in other human languages ...

Where is that other declaration of lround? No problems compiling helm git but I've only done so on Ubuntu.

Looks fun, seems like a great program when you're lazy and just want to try out some styles, adding this to my list of music software to check out

Re: M-Audio Oxygen 61 sends spurious controller values
Thanks a lot, I'll give that a try. Awesome if it fixes it, and otherwise it's still a good learning experience :D only rarely do I see a value change without my hand adjusting it It's not consistent with mine either. You might look for a used unit to swap parts with if you cared enough to try and f...

I'm surprised that no one mentioned bsutherland's JuceOPLVST here: https://github.com/bsutherland/JuceOPLVSTi/releases http://bsutherland.github.io/JuceOPLVSTi/

M-Audio Oxygen 61 sends spurious controller values
I have a M-Audio Oxygen 61, already a few years old, has always worked fine but lately it is developing some strange behavior. Some of the controller values seem to be 'unstable'. It keeps sending spurious values for them even though the slider is not being moved. These are slightly perturbed values...

Re: New Free Synth - Helm - Now in Beta
Just discovered this synth!
It's very complete. The GUI is modern and pleasant to use.
Lots of different waveforms, formant filter, appreggio, noise.
Also I like how the LFOs, step sequencer, velocity pitch wheel etc can be assigned to any parameter.
Very cool, thanks for this.

Re: Caustic 3
it's nice to play around with, cool that it's possible these days to have such a versatile instrument in your pocket. I'm a child of the 80's so it impresses me :D Of course it lacks the flexibility of Carla+qtractor+a ton of LV2 plugins, and probably the limited processing power puts constraints on...

Re: OPA FM Synthesizer Shield (kickstarter / last hours)
That sounds very cool. I played around with retro sound chip emulators a lot. The softsynth Dexed is also nice for FM sounds similar to the OPL2/3 days.
But this is the real thing resurrected
I'm a bit late to be a baker (lol) but wish you good luck with this project
