Re: Software to cut tracks into tiny (1-3s) random fragments
Found my own answer. I keep searching for software in synaptic package manager only...when I looked in software manager I found "wavbreaker" which was exactly what I needed. Cut the file up into 95 pieces in seconds. Nice! EDIT - Only thing I dislike is it has issues with file naming if yo...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
I should have completed this thread long ago. I ended up having a major issue with an SSD and had to reinstall from scratch anyways. I made sure not to activate pulseaudio or install any software that requires it and everything worked like a charm. I also avoided all the WINE-related stuff as I was ...

Software to cut tracks into tiny (1-3s) random fragments?
Hi all, I know I'm always asking, never answering but I swear I tried to UTFSE, but am getting no hits for this. Audacity is what I'm using now but I'm trying to cut a track of approximately 5 minutes into 1-3 second segments preferably in a random overlapping fashion. Audacity is going to literally...

Re: Loss of sound in Mint/KXStudio Install from dis/re-conne
falkTX, that seemed to work. I just needed to reboot after resetting the Jack settings which I wasn't doing. When I turned on today it was all good. So thank you once again...I owe you how many times now? ;) EDIT - It's occurred a couple more times; I've noted I need to also reboot the loop Jack is ...

Re: Loss of sound in Mint/KXStudio Install from dis/re-conne
Okay thanks for all the input. When I remove the card the onboard is also dead. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to configure Jack...in the driver section I have six choices for Device/Interface. One is hw:0, two look like analog and digital versions of the onboard (an ALC892, hw:SB,0 and hw:SB,1), t...

Re: Loss of sound in Mint/KXStudio Install from dis/re-conne
It wasn't the onboard to begin with, it was an Asus Xonar DX. It does have one worrying function I'm wondering if I accidentally triggered - it has a jack output that turns off the card and turns on the front audio panel (which I don't have in my case. So what happens if I accidentally (which I did ...

Loss of sound in Mint/KXStudio Install from dis/re-connect?
I've somehow lost all sound in my install which has been working just fine for months. I had unplugged and replugged in my speaker system and that was it. Cadence shows Jack working normally. If I go to Preferences --> Sound I get the message "Waiting for sound system to respond" although ...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
Though I should mention in ally attempts, once KXStudio reps were added, on I found I had to restart or shitdown twice from the menu regardless of how long I waited! Compared to what I got going now? Nothing! Thanks again.

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
I managed to get sound to work. I assumed the drivers with the DVD were Windows based but you know what assuming does, feel like an idriot....anyways tried it out and it works like a charm. I also got rid of Pulseaudio which may have helped. thank you once again for all your input. Now I can get to ...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
I've done some more reasding and have reaalized that the sound card I purchased a Xonas DX (Asus ) 7.1 is reported to be both usable in linux systems and not. Do you have have any thoughts on this?

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
And here is what Jack is doing to connect (It now says it's server status is started) but as you'll see below it's choosing either the loopback (hw:0|hw:0|) or System V SHM in the two examples below... Fri Apr 18 02:58:24 2014: Starting jack server... Fri Apr 18 02:58:24 2014: JACK compiled with Sys...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
Oh, I think you misunderstood? I'm running Kxstudio on Mint for similar reasons to what you just suggested. KDE is fine, but heavy and in my experience a little less stable than gnome - but that might have been because I was pushing what my build at the time could do. I'm just unable to get sound no...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
Hi, thanks again, totally appreciate the time you put into KXStudio! The kxstudio-default-settings is already installed. I agree getting jack up and running is priority, I used to work on Ubuntu using Jack and appreciate how well it works. Thanks again...I actually looked at installing Kxstudio itse...

Re: Success of Kxstudio Install Over Mint Causes Almost no S
falkTX, Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it; and the page you put together mint/kxstudio I used. So here's the results: sounds like you still need to configure jack. the loopback device is something Cadence uses to get audio from non-jack apps when not using pulseaudio. You should ign...
