Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Under the installed Ubuntu system, the same code above produces 2 results - 1. HDA-Intel 2. Loopback 1 (whatever that is) Right now, I feel my best chance is to get it working under Ubuntu, since I have internet access there. Any next steps for helping the system 'see' the card? I've already got the...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

How do I get it to see this card in QjackCtl, even with all the right firmware installed? Are we at the end of the road here? Could you post (yes, yet another time, sorry) the output of: cat /proc/asound/cards If your Emu card is not in there then it is not (yet) recognized. So I just checked using...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

@Red Leader What are the connection issues you are seeing? Is is just wifi, or also wired? So, it 'sees' the wireless network. I enter WPA password, takes about 30 seconds of trying to connect, then just cannot connect. I haven't tried wired either, but on the 2018 AV Linux, it didn't work. Strange...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Okay, I'm testing AV Linux 2019 now. Same internet connection prob. Anyway, here were the results from what it is seeing: isotester@avl64box:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller (rev 09) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corpor...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

@Red Leader: how old is you computer? Like @Merlyn said: it might be your computer. Computer is about 4 years-ish old. Intel Core i5-3570k cpu, Gigabyte motherboard, 8gig RAM, etc all other components around that same vintage. It might only have 1 PCI slot. I'd have to verify when I get home. I'll ...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Well, what is weird is everything worked perfect, out of the box in Ubuntu. Wireless was fine, wired was fine, etc. I thought that maybe with AV Linux being Debian based (I think?) there were some proprietary packages for firmware for the wireless card or ethernet adapter that were technically not '...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Also, one other thing - in the Jack Audio Connection Kit, I am given the option of 2 interfaces: 1) hw: PCH HDA Intel 2) hw: PCH, 0 ALC887-VD Analog I'm guessing that none of these is the Emu. Ebay has an AF4 for about $45 with shipping, I'm wondering if I should just get that like I had before mine...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Okay, so I am playing around with AV Linux live disk from USB, and: 1) I have all the EMU files 2) I try the aplay -l command, and I get card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH] and Subdevices: 0/1, Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 So, it looks like even under this, It is not 'seeing' the card? Is all this starting to...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Hmm, lots to think about. I do have a 2018.6.25 AV Linux boot disk that I can play around with... due to the connectivity issues, I don't think I ever got to the hardware testing phase. Let me pull out AV Linux again in a live environment off the thumb drive and see what it thinks of the Emu card. A...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Also, in Cadence, it has an exclamation point around the kernal (4.18.0) as 'generic', and also says 'User in audio group: - no' Not sure if this matters. In Cadence, my only option for 'hardware/interface' is 'hw:PCH,0 [ALC887-VD Analog]' ....which sounds like the onboard sound controller on the mb...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Hi, Sorry, I haven't been able to follow this thread as closely as I'd like.. A search of Filesystem--->lib--->firmware--->emu should tell you if you have the firmware installed, there should should be 6 files, if you have some sort of 'alsa-firmware' package installed you shouldn't need to build a...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Yeah, that's good. Next you can see if ALSA sees it with aplay -l Okay, here is output from that command - **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Loopback [Loopback], d...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

You can check if the card is visible on the PCI bus with lspci Post the output of that in a code box. Here is what I get: dave@frank:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller (rev 09) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation X...
