Re: Trouble with SooperLooper compilation/execution on Raspberry Pi

My wife wanted me to let you all know, that thanks to my efforts to repair our old washer, we now have a new one. :D She now knows the way to get something new around the house is to encourage me to fix the old one. Dangit! It was supposed to be my little secret. Back to my SooperLooper saga, I thin...

Re: What kind of musician am I?

Similar situation, but not just about music. I don't really want to learn anything new style wise. I would like to record some things and finish some things off. Last weekend I actually wrote lyrics for an entire song in about half an hour, which never happens. But that's the way it's supposed to ha...

Open Stage Control vs. TouchOSC for controlling SooperLooper

SooperLooper, SooperLooper. Is that all I ever talk about? Yes. I'm having some trouble getting my compiled version of SooperLooper working on Raspberry Pi/Raspbian. That's a real shame as the code changes I'd need to get some unused buttons off the screen are really trivial. I thought about using T...

Re: Trouble with SooperLooper compilation/execution on Raspberry Pi

Now I'm getting this: pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads/sooperlooper/src $ cd gui pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads/sooperlooper/src/gui $ ./slgui & [2] 22792 pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads/sooperlooper/src/gui $ 17:42:35: Error: Unable to initialize GTK+, is DISPLAY set properly? pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads/soope...

Cool!

I trust you've heard Sandy Denny's song "Fotheringay".

Re: Trouble with SooperLooper compilation on Raspberry Pi

Same thing happens if I try to use "s" instead of "n" so I trace into functions instead of executing until they return. I am not very experienced with gdb so maybe I'm doing something stupid. Breakpoint 1, main (argc=1, argv=0x7efff384) at gui_app.cpp:65 65 IMPLEMENT_APP(SooperLo...

Trouble with SooperLooper compilation/execution on Raspberry Pi

First let me sing praises loud and clear for Jesse Chappell, the guy who initially wrote SooperLooper. The first release was 15 years ago and while the UI isn't beautiful, I've managed to get better results with this than many other packages or hardware pedals. The way my musical mind works, I canno...

Re: Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

Is Superlooper not in the Rasbian repositories? Yes it is, but my intention is to modify the UI to fit on this little LCD and to get rid of a lot of the options which I never use. sooper-looper.JPG I'd also really like to try to implement a "sweeping pie" loop position indicator as found ...

Re: Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

Setting up to compile SooperLooper on the Pi is a little bit more arduous than it was under Ubuntu Studio. wxWidgets took almost 2 hours to compile. I'm getting a bunch of errors on packages that probably have nothing to do with the GUI, so I'm going to see if I can just compile the GUI and forget a...

Re: Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

Great that you've got it working! Guess that the Pi3 can pass more power to the Behringer 404 audio interface than the Pi1B+ that I have. Or maybe you have a beter power adapter for the Pi. Do you use the power adapter for the Behringer? Or do you only use the USB connection from Pi to the 404? I'm...

Re: Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

First I am going to mess with the JACK (jackd) settings as I noticed one of the parameters was set to "2" when I started up via QJackCtl whereas the page I was reading about Pi said to set this to "3". If I can get away without need to build the real time kernel I'll like that, t...

Re: Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

I'm pleased to report that I have achieved some success. I think that on my Ubuntu Studio PC, I didn't have the onboard audio enabled, so jack defaulted to hw:0 which would be the 1st USB device or the Behringer. On the Pi, the onboard audio is hw:0 and the Behringer USB is hw:1. I started jackd on ...

Pi 3, SooperLooper, and UMC-404HD audio interface

Few months back I was using SooperLooper quite a bit with Ubuntu Studio 19 on an old Athlon based machine. I found a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1.2 with 7" LCD touch screen laying around and wondered if it would run SooperLooper. It turns out that SooperLooper and QJackCtl are included by default i...

Re: seeking info on MIDI controllers, thinking Arturia

I've got both the Keystep 32 and the BeatStep Pro. I have used the editing software for the BeatStep, but used W-word OS rather than Wine. So I can't tell you whether it would work under Wine. Maybe someone on the Arturia forum would know. I don't think you need to edit anything to get basic functio...
