RESOLVED: Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
Cadence as suddenly decided to work. The screen is no longer grayed out and I can make changes to the configuration. I have no idea what made it start working. All I've done to my system is install 2 packages and apply updates and I really don't think that had anything to do with it. I still believe...

Re: Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
I have not tried reinstalling cadence. I know that it is related to the user account because I created a test account and it runs fine under it. I have tried removing the following and allowing jack and cadence to recreate them: ~/.config/Cadence ~/.config/jack ~/.config/falkTX ~/.asoundrc I don't s...

Re: Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
Hi merlyn. I have tried both of your suggestion and it does not resolve the Grayed out issue. I created a test account and cadence work fine under it, so there is something under my user account that is messed up. I've tried: deleting ~/.config/Cadence deleting ~/.config/jack deleting ~/.config/.aso...

Re: Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
Ok - I've gotten jack to load and work, however Cadence is still Grayed Out and not configurable. my ~/.xinitrc starts Cadence cadence-session-start --maybe-system-start & ~/.config/jack/config <?xml version="1.0"?> <!-- JACK settings, as persisted by D-Bus object. You probably don't w...

Re: Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
Tried resetting configs and starting jackdbus cadence-session-start --reset jack_control start $ cadence Using Tray Engine 'Qt' Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/cadence/src/cadence.py", line 1779, in slot_A2JBridgeExportHW a2jWasStarted = bool(gDBus.a2j.is_started()) Att...

Cadence: JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login
Cadence has worked great for years but yesterday when I started cadence, all settings were greyed out. I have made no changes to the system [ archlinux] other than apply updates. I've tried: cadence-session-start --maybe-system-start JACK is set to NOT auto-start on login Tried: cadence-session-star...

Re: How to Use Wav Samples?
Thanks for the suggestion. I found polyphone. It has the functionality to export sf2, sf3 and sfz from wave samples. The built-in documentation is good and a tutorial is located in the appendices. Also there is a short tutorial demonstrating basic work flow of the process: https://www.youtube.com/wa...

How to Use Wav Samples?
I have .wav samples of a Vox Contential I'd like to use.
Normally I use .sf2 sound fonts via Qsynth but I have no idea how to use wave samples.
Is it possible and if so what sampler would be used?

Re: Errors in MIDI stream
I had contacted Focusrite support a week ago about another problem and they gave me a downgrade. I was to install it and the restart the mixer and allow it to upgrade. They thought the perhaps there was corruption. Anyway - I'll try the downgrade though I don't know what version it is... Thank you!!!

Re: Errors in MIDI stream
The Saffire Pro 40 is a new audio interface for me. I have been using a Focusrite Saffire for years and had upgraded recently. The Pro 40's MIDI worked perfectly for up until yesterday. As stated above I had booted to windows and tested it and found it perfectly functional. Today I disconnected the ...

Re: Errors in MIDI stream
I created another user account and got midi to work under ALSA. It is not very stable - any xruns will drop the connection. Still need to try reinstalling packages and see if that helps the stability. khz, - I read through the Saffire PRO 40 link sometime ago. I don't think it is related to what is ...

Re: Errors in MIDI stream
I booted to windows and tested using seq24. Everything worked OK. That should rule out any type of hardware issues or component failures. Guess I'll create another user acct so I have clean config files and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work will start uninstalling/reinstalling pac...
