Re: Crackles with UMC404HD

Did you ever find the cause of this? I have just picked one of these up and I am noticing more glitches (perhaps xruns, I'm not sure) than I had with my focusrite.

Re: Finallly tried MUX modular synth from MUTOOLS

The above made me ask myself a question: why is it that such a truly modular synth like MUX makes it so easy to explore sounds whereas the VCV Rack seems of not so an easy approach as far as coming up with potent sounds is concerned ? In my case that is, although I'm certain many also share this ex...

Re: Do you want more people to use Linux for music?

@Michael Willis What I mean is that someone who is coming to Linux from Windows is in a worse position than someone starting from scratch. Someone used to Windows has to unlearn Windows and the Windows ways of doing things when learning Linux. I'm not referring to Windows Users on Windows. Support ...

Intriguing! What's going on in your house?

I think everyone knows what you are saying so no need for a video to show that you had it working audacity.

Re: Ardour monitor settings to use two soundcards

Doesn't seem much point getting frustrated by the responses on this forum Perhaps i will go ask there. Thank you for this idea. But were do you read frustration? I do not get frustrated about the answers i get as long as they are relevant and not simply naming something as impossible which i alread...

Re: Ardour monitor settings to use two soundcards

As far as i know it can. It can handle above that rate (HDA), and when i set an ardour project at 48 kHz everything goes as it should. Is this what you mean? Yes, pretty much. Why don't you post your question on the ardour IRC? The two main devs are usually there and could answer your question very...

Re: Modular DIY midi controller

:D yeah it's probably simple if you're into that stuff but I'm not. The costs mount up quickly if you want it to be decent quality.

There's also midilar, I think the focus is vcv rack but could be used for anything I suppose. Not released yet though as far as I know.

Re: Modular DIY midi controller

There's midibox. Many years ago I was looking into making my own and was going to use that but after a lot of research I realised that it was a bit too much work and I would probably never finish it or mess it up somehow and waste a load of money. The forum is great and has so much information so mi...

Re: Which DAW to pick?

Guitarix looks absolutely amazing - is it easy to use this with Ardour? Yes, just start up ardour and guitarix and then route your card input to guitarix and then to ardour. I think there are guitarix plugins so you could just record in to ardour but I think you would be missing out on some of the ...

Re: Which DAW to pick?

Vote for Ardour also from here. And if you want best mixing UI, get Mixbus (Ardour with better mixer). They have pretty often discounts, so you can get it for 39$, or sometimes even 29$. https://harrisonconsoles.com/site/mixbus.html And if you start with Ardour, all your files will work also in Mix...

Re: Gah....

I use Ubuntu studio controls on neon and jackdbus is running, must be possible to install at least. When I installed UBS it removed cadence which is annoying but UBS is wanted to use so I accepted it. I don't really understand what your issue is. Did you encounter issues adding the repo, or trying t...

They exist at least, must be sold somewhere for your specific mic. Or perhaps you can use one from another make.

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality

Does anyone have problems when updating packages with this UBS? Whenever I update with Discover in plasma I keep getting a notification of pulseaudio's output, it seems like pulseaudio starts and stops again repeatedly.
