How do you access that?

Re: Automation?

Renoise is certainly great in many aspects. I did one piece with it about 2 years ago. I listened to it recently by coincidence and I can still see the hex numbers and the fast scrolling of multitrack data and the totally square rhythm. Laborious. For someone into trackers it might be otherwise but...

Re: Automation?

If you want to have some wave shape, then you should be using LFO, not automation. And sure, you could use automation to adjust your LFO (haven't done this in ardour, and don't know if it is possible there) Sure. Where are the LFOs in Ardour again ? Indeed, you are right, there is no. I am quite am...

Reaper and Ardour can be compared , but Live or Bitwig is different.

Why? They can both act in a linear fashion the same as ardour and reaper. The fact that Live and Bitwig have live functionality doesn't make a lot of difference to the way automation works.

Re: Automation?

I don't know if Reaper can do this, but I think it's not fair to compare Ardour with Live in this respect. I'll check later if this is possible in Reaper. Reaper can. Why is it not fair? They have different approaches to automation and one is light years ahead of the other. There's no reason ardour...

Re: Automation?

Everyone should watch unfa's video about the shortcomings of ardour, he talks a lot about the problems it has with automation.

Re: Automation?

Having to set write/touch for every single parameter (at least as far as I know there is no global mode), editing is fiddly. It's just over complicated, when you look at the way that programs like ableton live or bitwig can deal with it ardour is horrible to use. It's fine if you need to do a fade i...

Ardour is pretty painful to use for automation though.

Re: Automation?

You can do whatever you like, your imagination is the only limit. That's exactly my problem. I can't imagine it enough to get a start with it. What you tell me is right as what you tell me i've read everywhere, and what doesn't land on me. I can't get a good idea about the possibilities. Tried, but...

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?

this year about 5 or 6 of my facebook friends lost their data when their drives failed (or laptops were stolen). some of them had lost years of human-hours, and had no backups. all of them are creative people (musicians, photographers, etc), living in proprietary ecosystems due to extensive use of ...

Re: Automation?

Can anyone tell me in simple words what the benefits of automation are? Creates movement and interest. Want to do a fade in/out? Automation. Want to pan something from one side to another? Automation. In the old days they used to have multiple engineers at the same time moving faders etc to ride th...

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?

This is hard to say. I think Neon is a perfect choice and it's probably better to wait for them to decide it is stable enough to move over to. I think some context is important here. I think ever since I have been using linux the kxstudio iso has been based on an older release than I would like to u...

Re: Carla won't load certain Windows VST's

Any chance of Carla ever supporting VST's like this? It does already but I suppose the rack version doesn't know what to do with all the extra outputs. Because DSSI only supports 32 bit Windows VST's (if I'm not mistaken) and it is on the way out. If I'm not mistaken DSSI is no longer supported and...

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?

What's common rule .... "I'm the best! As i have the most expencive studio" .... and everyone there addore's that .... Yeah right  I haven't seen that very much on producer boards but there are always people with a bit too much self belief. So you can rule out "tools" in y...
