Re: Reaper vs Ardour?

Why would you need to differentiate between mono and stereo tracks? I always found that such a pain in Ardour and never understood why it was like that.

Re: MUSICBEE FOR LINUX

I used to use Musicbee on Windows and I found it very difficult to find something as good on Linux. It would be best to ask the developer on their forum for this although at this point, if no work has been made towards it by now, I think it's doubtful that it will happen.

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?

Reaper is also much more customisable and therefore more powerful when you start using and combining actions (many tedious or repetitive things can be automated). I think there is a some kind of system in place for this in Ardour but the last time I looked there was barely anything created for it by...

Re: Ardour: How sum your stereo tracks to mono when works with Sitala?

You could use a mid/side EQ and high pass the side channel. This gives you a bit more control, sometimes basses and kicks have interesting stereo information in the mids/highs so you can mono the low end but keep what you want for the higher end.

Re: Surge 1.9 released

This is a huge release. They have added Mutable Instruments' Clouds and Plaits to the effects and VCO sections which is amazing...plucked strings into shimmer reverb? Yes please! Just wish it would get updated in kxstudio, I'm still stuck with 1.7. I know you can easily download the new version but ...

Re: New Hardware - Need some perspective

Hey Michael, I'm glad you managed to identify the problem eventually. It is a nasty bug and I've lost a fair bit of work to it.

Re: NFT - What do you think?

Those are very alarmist articles and very biased in my opinion. I had a hard time getting past the mention of liberalism. Blockchains don't have to be bad for the environment and it's a good idea to think about it in context. I'm not going to try to argue for it but research yourself and look at bot...

Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

Ok let's not go there lol. It looks like you already did. The general consensus on the reaper forum is that Justin isn't too concerned about this and made the pop-up message as an incentive for people to contribute to it but didn't want to make it unusable for people who can't pay for it. He made $...

Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

Any reason you didn't try Reaper? Reaper is paid. not expensive, but not that dirt cheap as Mixbus on the sales as well. (i bought mine for $19). so i would try it if/when i completely run out of free/cheaper options. It's not entirely true. You can certainly use Reaper for as long as you want with...

Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

oh, i encountered this thread in the right moment, because i spent last weekend choosing a Linux DAW, and have some rants^W impressions. Any reason you didn't try Reaper? It sounds like you don't necessarily need it to be open source so it sounds like it would be a good candidate for you, especiall...

I'd probably take those odds, pretty marginal on both sides of your coin.

Edgy as ever. Don't use it if you don't need it, simple as that.

Funny though, I'm seeing more and more Windows users interested in using Jack and things such as Carla.

There is an autotune https://x42-plugins.com/x42/x42-autotune but it's not quite the same as you're describing.
