Re: Wine Problems... How do I troubleshoot?

Install the Reaper ... it is the best way to use Synth1 in linux. This is nonsense. If there is any such thing as 'the best way to use' a vst then it's probably Bitwig because of the incredible depth of modular-like modulation you can apply, but generally using a vst in a daw is much the same as us...

I'd personally stick with the amazing synths listed here already but u-he's synths are very highly regarded if you don't mind paying.

Re: Pipewire - qpwgraph - Firefox (Routing issue)

I guess sunrat means easyeffects? I've just tried that and it works with new firefox tabs, they get routed through it. Regarding turning it off for headphones, there is an option to load a preset with an input/output device but if that doesn't help there is a bypass switch if you don't mind opening ...

Re: Enable 128mbps mp3 uploads of 4 minute songs/portions, max 1 per week?

Maybe we can pick up some folks outside the mainstream. If you've seen some of Joss Stone's 'total world tour' videos, there are some amazing players out there, some with unique home-made instruments. Some great music, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_World_Tour if you can track down the video r...

Re: Mixbus10 100% CPU issues

Yes I'm waiting to hear back from either Ben or Nathan. I ran the h-top and I didn't see anything weird unless you guys see it in the pic above. Maybe I should go see if any of my pro settings have changed which I doubt. It's not running at 100% in that picture above though, it just looks normal to...

Very much doubt it could be a RAM issue. Have you contacted support?

Re: Pipewire and IRQ based scheduling

But apparently only does its job with a complete reboot, not at logout/login. Anyway, this is only symptom management. I'd prefer to prevent the volume resetting to 36% in the first place. And, this volume damping only happens when pipewire's "pro-audio" profile is active. Does not happen...

Re: Pipewire disable autoconnect for Firefox

Depends how quickly it happens I suppose.

I think this is possible through the documented ways though, there is clearly functionality for it in at least a couple of ways. If it's not working then it's either a bug or the config is not right.

The pw-link thing is not useful since that doesn't prevent the initial autoconnection. I haven't looked at filter chains yet..

Yes, but if you have it running as a script or service it will make the break the connection and make the correct one almost instantly.

Re: Pipewire disable autoconnect for Firefox

Perhaps filter chains can help? https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/wikis/Filter-Chain I think you could do it with https://docs.pipewire.org/page_man_pw-link_1.html if you feel like scripting it, you could wildcard the firefox connections. There are also some config options that look...

Re: Any advice for nice (free) sources to learn sound design?

In the same vein of lilith's suggestion, you could try VCV Rack or Cardinal. modular is a good way to learn because you can concentrate on one specific aspect of synthesis and use scopes to see what is happening and the concepts will transfer to all synthesizers. I would recommend watching videos by...

Re: pw-jack

But jack.conf is obeyed. What I think is that Jack apps just get the default (or current) value served to them when starting up, because the pipewire node has yet to be initialized with the new rate. Or something like that. So when I start MusE, the device rate does actually get set to 48000, but M...
