It's definitely the kit's connection. I've tested it with 2 different USB cables and 2 different USB ports, all of which work just fine with the keyboard.

I don't think it came with any software or driver. I think it's intended to, at least in Mac and Windows, just work. I should try booting into my barely-used Windows partition and test it there, and it if still doesn't work, I'll probably have to get into your project and try stuff.

Class-compliant? Is there more than one way that a device can be MIDI-recognized? It's advertised as definitely compatible with computers as a MIDI device and has a guide to set that up in the manual, and all I know is that it doesn't work on my Linux computer.
