Re: random dropbox crashes
I'm running dropbox 2.10.0 0 from the dropbox repo on Kubuntu 14.04 64bit with kxstudio and kubuntu backport repos. Dropbox never crashed on me, but I don't have it running constantly, only switch it on from time to time.

Re: Just found a new DAW on KVR
Well, I can't tell for sure, I haven't looked into the code. An "rgrep jack *" returns some files in pydaw/portaudio. I haven't looked into configure/compile flags, but the defaults in the Makefile and scripts use "--with-jack=no"

Re: Just found a new DAW on KVR
Yes, I tried it, if not I wouldn't speak about it. It's not bad at all, if one accept to be stuck with it. I also tried it. Built and installed successfully on Kubuntu 14.04 with KXStudio repos. Choosing aloopDuplex as the audiodevice it plays nicely with jack  I had to restart it after the i...

Re: FIND
Indeed, I discovered it was running just by running top. But how can I find the process tree? If you run top, you'll see a column "PID". Note the number you see there in the line that has "find" as command. Quit top and type pstree followed by the number (the "process id&qu...

Re: FIND
So what applications would envoke it at startup, and why? It seems quite strange.. If you know your way around the command line, you can find out using tools like top, ps and pstree. If you're not that comfortable, you could install htop or something similar. If you call it in a terminal, you can u...

Re: latest dist-upgrade breaks kxstudio
the dist-upgrade wants to remove kxstudio-desktop and kdm, that's why kde does not start automatically. Besides it always wants to pull in the pulseaudio stuff...

Instead of removing and re-installing you can also issue araboof wrote:when it removes a package it doesn't remove the configuration, so you can just re-install it and you'll be good to go again.

Re: KXStudio recent updates - any problems?
Do you mean the upgrade to version 1.0.1 in 12.04? In my case "aptitude" could upgrade it by removing libkscreen0 and installing libkscreen1.falkTX wrote:There's currently a minor issue about kscreen not being upgradeable, but I can't find out why...

Re: qtractor startup on kxstudio
I added the LV2 paths manually, restored the lib64 link and all is fine now. Btw, my $LV2_PATH did not contain /usr/lib64
Thanks
Thanks

Re: qtractor startup on kxstudio
OK. That was quicker than expected. I used brute force and copied half of the plugins in /usr/lib/lv2 to a temp. directory. After that qtractor started up just fine, but I got loads of messages about duplicate plugins in /usr/lib/lv2 and /usr/lib64/lv2. After removing the symlink from /usr/lib64 to ...

Re: qtractor startup on kxstudio
I couldn't find anything with naspro in it (I looked in ~/.lv2, /usr/local/lib/lv2 and /usr/ and did an "apt-cache search naspro" and checked if anything was installed). Any other "usual subjects"? If not I'll try to exclude the installed plugins one by one and report back (don't...

qtractor startup on kxstudio
Hello, after having read much good about qtractor, I wanted to give it a try on kxstudio (64bit, installed from the 12.04.1 Live-DVD ISO and constantly updated). However, on startup, qtractor displays an empty window and then just "hangs". The current version in the repo is 0.5.10-1+nodebu...
