lol, please read the text I put there... it's written for a reason
(or maybe you didn't understood it?)

anyway, replace 'VERSION' with your installed ubuntu/kxstudio version, which in this case I assume it's "precise".

after that, reload the source again (apt-get update, or whatever method you use), and 'wineasio' will be installable.

In case it is useful info, the fst command works to load Absynth 5, CMFuzz, and other vsts,
and then if I launch a vst from festige, that fails, and when I close Festige,
it closes the apps that were running with fst.

I *did* replace VERSION with precise... (see my error message), but still it doesn't load.

that is weird, you have all the libs needed.

please post the output of:
Code: Select all
wine /usr/share/festige/fst/fst.exe.so

it reads:
Code: Select all
deb http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/repo/ VERSION free non-free

there's a space between repo/ and VERSION, so it will become:
Code: Select all
deb http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/repo/ precise free non-free

This is rather useless if you just install 'kxstudio-repos', much easier to set-up that way.
Just follow step 1 & 2 described in here:

no problem, just grab it manually then.
32bit:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudi ... b/download
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudi ... b/download
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
64bit:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudi ... b/download
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudi ... b/download
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudi ... b/download

install them in order on which I posted, either the 32bit links or the 64bit, but not both.

Thank you, finally it worked (and I succeded to add manually the repos in list).

A last problem : tweaking wine/audio only shows me an "alsa" choice. How do register wineasio ?

wine only works in ALSA mode now (from v1.4 onwards), so you'll need some alsa2jack bridge to get audio on normal applications (wineasio apps will be just fine though).

to register wineasio, just run as normal user:
Code: Select all
regsvr32 wineasio.dll

winecfg won't show ASIO in any way, but it will still work.

The non-free repo is the only repo I've never been able to add via synaptic or otherwise. For some reason you HAVE to manually add it to the sources list.

Fixed in 12.04, even for linux mint.
I changed the ways repos are added, so *any* Ubuntu 12.04 based distro will *always* work with it.

hi slowpick, i notice you mention Absynth 5 here... i have a registered Absynth 5 that i'd like to get running under linux/kxstudio, i've gotten it to install under wine, but when i run it i can't connect it to any audio outputs or midi inputs... can you give me any pointers on this?

thanks a bunch if you can! ;)

For the standalone, the file menu, Audio-midi Settings, Audio tab, choose asio, and wineasio for the driver, and in the midi tab, turn on your input and output ports. It auto-connects in the
qjackctl Audio tab. For the plugin, I use reaper, (if more plugins are to be used) and its preferences to set up the same things. (If you start the plugin with fst, you will have to manually connect
in the qjackctl Audio and midi tabs.) Thats all I do. Hope it works! :)

wine /home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program*Files/Native*Instruments/Absynth*5/Absynth*5.exe

fst /home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program*Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/Absynth*5.dll
