Ignore that bug then (mark as invalid). I reworked all the kxstudio packages but haven't uploaded them yet.
Soon I'll delete all of them for precise and start uploading only what's ready.
This will make sure I know what is done and what is left to do (for once, meta-packages will be missing, on purpose)

ok, done. hmmm, sorry that i've already installed what i could from the 12.04 ppa now... :? ehhh...

ok, the repos are mostly ready now for 12.04

I removed the meta-packages and kxstudio-welcome for now, still a work in progress.
I know it's a bit sad to not have a KXStudio release ready on 12.04 release day, but we have 5 years support for this version

The update method remains the same.
Just to be clear it is:
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kxstudio-team/kxstudio
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kxstudio-repos
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install kxstudio-default-settings

Lowlatency kernel is available in the official repos for 12.04 (Thanks to Scott from UbuntuStudio!), and I've imported the realtime one from abogani's PPA (3.2.0-rt), so we already have quite a good setup.

Now it's finally time to release the plugins

So will the non-free include the new Pianoteq 4? Been meaning to try that… I'm still on the fence about buying, almost sold but in no rush and want my limited budget to go to supporting FLOSS as a priority…

Yep, it includes Pianoteq4 and pianoteq-play 3.6.8 (not yet rechead v4 officially).
I made sure pianoteq could launch the pdf documentation within it's GUI, both for standalones and VST versions.
reaper, renoise, and loomer plugins are there too now. Still missing linuxdsp, energyxt and lightscribe stuff (todo later, after release).

note - I just realized the new kxstudio-welcome (and settings) are not yet in the PPAs. Launchpad is being a bit slow now that 12.04 has just been released...

ok, 12.04 is complete now (I'll leave some TODO things for later, it's more than enough for release).
I'll just need to update the website and write some minor documentation and release notes, and we're all set!!! :D

That's great news, thanks a lot ! :D

I just switched over from 11.10 to 12.04, with the latest version of your repos but now I have some issues I didn't have in 11.10 :

Claudia : The "Application" -> "Add New" is grayed out :/ (weird because launching klaudia works...)

Cadence : doesn't want to start anymore :
Code: Select all
python2: /build/buildd/sip4-4.13.2/siplib/siplib.c :10938 : sipEnumType_alloc:  L'assertion « (((currentType)->td_flags & 0x0007) == 0x0003) » a échoué.
Abandon (core dumped)

Shouldn't it use python3 ?

Carla : when launching from command line it claims "RDF Support not available (LADSPA-RDF and LV2 will be disabled)" but python-rdflib and python3-rdflib are installed.

It seems like something went wrong but I don't know where to start looking... :?

During the cadence py3 port some things were not completed.
The claudia-launcher was to be replaced by a real LADISH app browser, which I talked with nedko about, but due to the lack of time nothing was done. You'll have to use Klaudia for now.

The main Cadence app was never ported to py3 (again due to the lack of time).
It still works here fine though. That seems more like a memory error than anything else. I say make sure your system is fully up-to-date and reboot.

I have some issues with python3-rdflib. it builds fine on my system but not on the PPAs.
Don't worry though, I already had plans to replace rdflib by lilv (which makes lv2 scanning super fast now!). This is what I'm coding right now, so it will be "fixed" very soon in a package update.

DoosC wrote:It seems like something went wrong but I don't know where to start looking... :?

There are some small issues with 12.04, but nothing serious. I'll write them all down in the 12.04 release notes.

Cadence : Did again sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade but it says it has nothing to upgrade. A reboot did not remove the problem either. Weird cause it was working just fine before the upgrade.

Carla : OK I'll wait for the lilv enabled version then.

Claudia : Klaudia is just fine for now. It is the opportunity to realize how much I liked the integrated approach in Claudia.

Right, nothing serious but you have got us to be used to high quality standards so we complain easily
