I've been playing around with different versions of Linux for quite a few years, but I have been using Windows as my main operating system. I finally decided to switch over to Linux, I'm currently trying to convince my wife to do the same. We are using tweaked version of Edubuntu as the main system with a dual boot set-up including Windows 7. I also have a hard drive dedicated to 64Studio Beta 3 which I have been working on for awhile now. My 13 year old son is quite good at guitar, drums and keyboards. Some of his musical influences are ACDC, Alvin Lee, CCR, Jeff Healy, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie-Ray Von, The Beatles, and ZZ Top to name a few. I would love to get him involved in using some of the excellent software that Jack Audio or 64Studio have. We are fairly used to Ardour, Audacity, Cool Edit and Cakewalk among others. I was disheartened to find out that Jack Audio is no longer with us. We have a Mackie CFX 16 Mixer along with a Casio keyboard, a Charvel/Jackson with midi pick-up, 5 string bass, and several other guitars as well as a drum kit. I would really like input from anyone who has a Linux system dedicated to music production and recording.
