That's a very good review studio32. I have been considering picking up one of these for basic mixing. Thanks for posting.

We have one on our cubase system, integrated in the center section of our analog mixer. What isn't mentioned in the review: The faders are damn noisy. What Mackie reviewers don't mention: Theirs are too, but not quite as bad.
But all in all the BCF is a great tool for a great price.

Which might be a real problem if the unit is used in the same room as the recording. I've tested it lightly with Ardour2 where it worked beautifully, but my main purpose for it is to use it with Freewheeling.

Is there any way to nicely kill the motorization ?

Best,

The faders only move if you read automation, so you could bypass all level rides during recording. I do that anyway, because it distracts me from listening to the track I'm recording.

Am I right in assuming these sliders move automatically according to presets?

They move when MIDI tells them to.

are there any alternatives to the BCF at the price-range?
perhaps a little more expensive and combined with an interface (+pre-amps)

man BCR2000 is much nicer. 24 knobs without switching, and they memorize the values, too, with it's LED. so motorized faders, for what?
