Sometimes, yes. Simpler themes tend to use less CPU.
But if you don't have the proprietary nvidia drivers installed, it won't matter much, they will all be slow. (This is probably the case in the RT kernel).
Alwaysanewb wrote:2. Will all the terminal commands and ppas and compiling from source still all be the same and can I install all the same programs on here and I would of with the unity desktop? I know it's still the same distro but it's linux so you never know about these things. I am one of the only people that like unity but if it has to go it's gone.
Ubuntu is Ubuntu, or Xubuntu, or Kubuntu, or UbuntuStudio or KXStudio. They all share the same base (Ubuntu), so any app made for Ubuntu itself will work on any variants (the app's theme may change depending on desktop though).
Alwaysanewb wrote:3. When I installed the kx repositorys could I of just installed your themes and tweaks and would of it installed xfce and your theme on top of it. I installed the kxstudio distro stand alone and it was a bit buggy but much prettier is there anyway to get that on this set up with the same perfomance.
You can just install 'kxstudio-default-settings' to get the KXStudio tweaks on any Ubuntu system.
Alwaysanewb wrote:4. Do you know anything else I can do to get better perfomance? 10.7ms latency might be fine for me i'm not sure but if I can get better I would like to try so if you know any other tips that would be great.
AutoStatic gave a page with some nice tips, although most of them are already handled with the kxstudio-default-settings package.
The main thing you should do is to make sure your graphics card is working properly (which might not be true on RT kernels). You'll specially need that if you plan to use Unity.
