Hi I'm aLex from Germany

Postby picrard » Mon Jul 09, 2012 11:40 am

Hello,

I'm new here, I've found the forum via google.com, and don't know why I haven't found it
before?

I'm using Linux now about 2 years, and have tested many distros e.g. Ubuntu, Debian, OpenSuSe,
Musix, UbuntuStudio, Dreamstudio, AV-Linux, Bodhi....
I have tested Linux the first time around 1998, but decided to go back to Windows.
After an article in 2009 in a magazine about linux multimedia distros, I was fascinated about that.
And so I came back to Linux, and I use it up today. I nearly never use Windows, soemthimes I have to use it
when the Software or Hardware is not suported under Linux, but mostly for the daytimejob I'm using Linux
at home.

I've started to create a Linux Multimedia Studio at home,
using:
HARDWARE:
- Athlon 64 FX
- 3 GByte
- Some Harddisks
- Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 I/O Firewire soundcard
- Lexicon Omega USB soundcard
SOFTWARE:
- Debian 6.0 partition
- AV-Linux 5.0.3 partition
- Dream Studio 11.10 partition
- and W****WS (not in use, not configured)

The recording room is not ready, some accoustic plates have to be installed and
some cables have to set up, but maybe some weeks and it could be ready.

I'm playing in a cover band, I brought Linux to them to record little sequences:
We are using:
HARDWARE:
- A Slow one ??? Pentium ???
- 1 GB ???
- M-Audio Delta 44
SOFTWARE:
- AV-Linux 5.0.3 partition

So that's it for the first info.

I say Hello !

aLex

... and the south of Germany (hihi)
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
